Is the XR package not available with a manual? Sometimes the configurator does not match reality, but it seems I cannot do it at the moment.

Currently no. I don't think they have plans of bringing that to market either. :(

Was it ever an option for the manual or did I just not notice it wasn’t.

No it's always been 8 speed auto.

The 6 speed Rubicon does have a 4.88 axle ratio available as an option, so that makes putting 35s/37s on without having to regear a reality.

If it was.....I'd trade my JLUR in right now for a Willy's XR package. It has enough of the Rubi components to work for me, yeah there's some rock climbing that I would have issues with without a locker, but I'd be ok with it.

Same. I was just pricing it out the other day. The auto option is the same price as the XR option. That would be a no brainer if it was an either/or situation. Putting them both together is decidedly not at @$8k

IIRC, original press release said they’d pair XR package with the manual. Even touted the extremely high crawl ratio.

It was a reaction to the Bronco Sasquatch, which originally wasn't available with a manual and then later was.

The Stellantis folks just needed to check the box that said "35s available" for their marketing literature and don't really care beyond that. The fact that 18 months in and Ford still can't seem to produce much more than 10K Broncos per month has also taken a lot of pressure off Jeep.
