Magnesium tailgate danger?

Previous owner stripped the bolt holes to hold the spare tire.
Does the magnesium in the tailgate make it dangerous to re-thread the bolt holes?

No. It will work similar to aluminum. It's not going to catch on fire or anything if that's your worry. It's a magnesium alloy so it is mixed with other metals like a "mag" wheel.

Dangerous? If they can make engine blocks with it I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I assume you mean the fire issue. No, it’s an alloy vs full magnesium. That would be a huge issue if they didn’t get the alloy correct.
