Hello Everyone,

I currently have the hard top and doors removed on my JLU 21. I am from MA and have a state inspection due this month. I wanted to know if I needed to put the doors and hard top back on for the inspection. I do have the mopar doors off mirror kit installed.
TIA

I got an inspection done in 2020 or 2021 without my doors on and it was ok. I called the shop ahead of time and ask if doors were OK and they didn't have an issue with it. Not sure if inspection shops are more critical now since they all have cameras installed now.

Every shop is different in their interpretation of the rules. But the laws is you need driver side mirror. Doors are um interesting, as far as I can tell you don't need them legally but there are people who think you should do they may ding you for that because they think the state requires them. I had a buddy get a ticket from a cop in an xj for taking his doors off. He was required to put on a safety latching device to make it legal so he used a bungee cord. That's the only time I have ever heard someone getting dinged for doors.

Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with at least one mirror so placed and adjusted as to afford the operator a clear, reflected view of the highway to the rear and left side of the vehicle.
