So are all these e-torque issues the reason this engine is no longer offered in 2021? I am about to take delivery of a 2020 Recon and I am concerns about this power plant. Should I be worried?
eTorque is still offered on the 3.6.

Hi all, I strongly recommend that anyone with this issue contact Jeep cares and open a ticket. Iā€™ll post a picture of what the did, at the dealership, to address my issues. IIRC, they added 2 additional grounding wires to support the charging systems

Unfortunately, it is winter time...so I doubt Iā€™ll be able to do a lot of off-road driving to be able to confirm the fix.
Interesting observation on the grounds ; when my 2007 JK had occasional " no crank " , I added grounds ( "the Big Three" JK forum posts) and no more intermittent problems.. When I look at the JL ground wires, their small diameter, and reports of loose/ poor connections, I also added flat braided grounds, cleaned and refastened existing grounds to the fenders and body. Can't have too many grounds !

Where specifically did you add the grounds? Sounds like a smart thing to do...

We finally got a chance to go wheeling since we had the batteries replaced in September due to low voltage issues and it appears that our problem isn't fixed. It's very disconcerting to be in 4 low and climbing or descending hills and the voltage drop from 14.8 down to 12. Since we've had the issue before we know watch the voltage regularly and once it dropped this time we were done for the day. We don't want to be stranded again or have it die on us while climbing or descending. We just want the thing fixed. I'll be re opening our JeepCares ticket with the new ( old) issue. I know at one point I saw in a previous post that Jeep had the same problem on a Jeep at Moab but I haven't seen anything else about it.

Good luck. Iā€™ve opened a ticket some time ago.. just the sound of crickets. Love Jeeps but have no confidence in taking this one at high altitudes on trails.

We have no confidence at all either.
Hi Yā€™all,
Call Jeep Cares and reference my case. The spelling of my last name is unique so they should have an easy time finding it. Philip Rodriquez and my zip is 80016. It appears to have fixed my issues. Iā€™ll know, for sure, when summer comes back to Colorado.

Winter wheeling has been fine... but itā€™s not the same.

Thanks, but arranging for a service appointment when there is no confirmed cause or fix is useless. Iā€™ve done this, the service departments are clueless since Jeep has put forth no cause or remedy. Iā€™ve seen many many guesses at fixes by owners left on their own and have seen no confirmed fixes...loose fuses, bad batteries, bad boost, bad auto start, etc... Jeep should solve this and put out a TSB And warranty fix. It seems that the strategy is to move on and let warrantees expire.

I agree with you 100%. It's shocking that Jeep hasn't done an engineering study (none publicly that I know of anyway) to truly root cause and solve this problem. There are 10 pages of evidence just in this thread alone--I know of multiple threads--so this is not an isolated incident. Considering the seriousness of this issue, it's possible that someone will get hurt one day and seriously damage the brand. It's sad to see a product we all love so much receive so little attention from a company that builds its reputation on loyal enthusiasts.

100% correct. In all of these cases, the issue corrects itself once we get on the road and start traveling at highway speed, So by the time we get to the dealership there is no code for them to read. It is obviously a regular and consistent issue but with no code to read the dealership is clueless, and with no proposed solution or discernible problem, jeep cares canā€™t do anything either. When I first started having this issue a month after I purchased my brand new wrangler in June 2019, it seemed like I was the only one in the world with this problem. A year later and there are dozens and dozens of people on this thread with the same issue. I agree, please put out a TSB and warrantee it. This is my third wrangler, but this has really left a bitter taste in my mouth. I am not recommending the new JL for anybody who wants to use it as an off-road rig, I am suggesting late model JKā€™s : (

I still haven't had a chance to test my vehicle at high altitude after the dealer flashed my PCM and brake module in the fall.

It's mind-blowing that we all have the exact same symptoms yet nearly every repair appears different. Everything from module flashes to battery replacements to hardware adjustments. It appears Jeep is just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping one of these attempts fixes it.

Does anyone in this thread have evidence that their dealership successful made the issue go away on their vehicle with their specific fix?
