LOUD is an understatement. But - I'd much rather have electric fans than crank/clutch driven fans that draw engine power and make an even more annoying screaming noise as the engine rpm's rise and fall. When driving my XJ or Toyota T100 (both with crank fans) I've had neighbors mistakenly yell at me for speeding in the hood because they hear the fan screaming as I accelerate and they think I'm hauling *ss but I'm only doing 15 - 20 mph! Also FYI (not preaching, just teaching...), the fans are not designed to force cooling air over the engine as much as it is to draw air through the radiator, a/c condensor, and transmission cooler fins. They are all stacked behind each other and need air flow at all times.

You mean it gets loud only when the a/c is on? Iv yet to notice it loud with a/c off. And only have a/c on while on the freeway so I can’t hear it. Been in temps over 90.

It aids the ac condenser yes. It is not the primary fan for the radiator. Just another reason to drive with the top off fellas

Yeah mine too. Dealer told me every JL they get, they check it and it's a JL thing.
I’m a totally new Jeep owner and got a JL back in February. The fan is also loud. I finally took it to the dealership and they said the same; all JL’s have a VERY loud fan and nothing is wrong with it. So I guess I take their word for it

You mean there are two fans up front? I thought it was just one fan that operates at different speeds.

It is like the sound of a relatively old Mercedes fan (85-90).

I think it would be suitable for JL diesel .

Yep, I figured out at the Taco Bell drive through, the only way I could hear the "high quality audio" through the order speaker was to turn off my A/C.

Ours does it as well! We just leave it on The 5th Speed and it quiets downs so we can order at a drive through or sitting at a light or gas station. When we remote start it picks whatever speed it wants ans we can hear the fan inside our house.
