I just turn my radio up and I don't hear it, way up.

I'm curious how many people with topless Jeeps still run the A/C? I've always felt like it was ineffective, but whenever my wife rides with me, she still insists on running it.I have found if the fan is too loud, like at a drive through or something, if you turn your AC fan down it gets much quieter. That is a decent work around. I have people look at me with a startled expression and ask what is wrong with my Jeep. It actually hurts my head when I pull into my garage if the fan is full blast.
As much as the noise bothers me, I stay way cooler when I have the top down and it is 95 degrees out, then my sister does in her 2017 JK. Given the choice I would take the noise to stay extra cool.
With the top off in slow traffic I always keep the air on full A/C. For drive throughs, just turn the fan down to speed of 4 or less and the extra loud cooling fan stops.I'm curious how many people with topless Jeeps still run the A/C? I rented a JKU last summer to see what it would be like to go topless here in Texas. I was in the Austin area. It was 97-101, 83-90% relative humidity for the 3 days we had it. We took off just the freedom panels and even with a sunshade it was unbearable. The AC will always be on, top on or off except for the short time in “winter” when it’s not hot outside.I'm curious how many people with topless Jeeps still run the A/C? The issue that’s a problem isn’t the sound level of the climate control fan, but the engine cooling fan itself. It’s embarrassingly loud. It doesn’t have to be that loud to cool the engine properly. This engine doesn’t run as hot as many others that have normal sounding fans.Anything under fan speed 3 will not make that sound, the cooling fan is just HUGE. Which isn't a bad thing! Once you get it cooled down drop it to 3![]()
@JeepCares ... The TSB number you referenced doesn’t mention a cooling fan problem. Also, it was released on September 7th, not October 16th. Be kind enough to double check the TSB# for us please.Hey everyone,
This thread has died down over the last few weeks, however, we wanted to make you aware of a Technical Service Bulletin that was released on Oct. 16, TSB 18-041-18. One of the symptoms that this TSB will address is "excessive blower fan noise when the A/C is on MAX output." We recommend speaking to your dealer about this TSB. As always, feel free to send us a private message if you have questions or concerns!

It doesn’t mention the cooling fan, however, the instructions say to flash the engine software (which is what activates the cooling fan operation). I bet this is the correct TSB, but it hasn’t been updated to include the fan run time yet.@JeepCares ... The TSB number you referenced doesn’t mention a cooling fan problem. It is not fair to the dealership to ask for a TSB fix to be applied in order to correct a problem that isn’t addressed in the TSB. I want to continue to maintain a good relationship with my dealer’s service department ... the above stated discrepancy does not help!It doesn’t mention the cooling fan, however, the instructions say to flash the engine software (which is what activates the cooling fan operation).
