Okay I found a dealer that's going to fix it taking it in in about an hour and a half I can wait on it they said it the update shows about six or seven things that fixes like rough idle what I don't have is just my Jeep is perfect nothing's wrong with it right now I just hate for something to change in mess something up. So all it does is quiet the noise about 50%? That's all?

Just had mine done huge difference. Its not 100% full force every time at crank up and seems more regulated when needed. It did get high up with todays high temps so i am very happy.

I'm in Texas it's about 92Ā° today we'll have to see you when he gets a hundred I guess but you can't even hear mine it's like maybe 10 20% from the hundred percent before. Before it was a 10 now I'd say it's about a 2. And people that say it won't get as cold mine is just as cold no problems. if you been thinking about doing it do it trust everyone that's had it done

Did it cut the noise down by half or more

I think so. I hardly ever hear it now, and it originally sounded like a jet engine it was so loud. Definitely worth it to do in my opinion!

Glad I found this thread. Now that itā€™s 90+ outside Iā€™m seeing the surging idle and the crazy fan noise issue. Iā€™m going to take it to the dealer next week and see if this doesnā€™t sort it out
I have the load fan and the surging on my ā€˜18. Now, to try and find a dealership capable of taking care of the TSB without any BS.

Outstanding! Which dealership did you use. Iā€™m over in McKinney, but will gladly drive a little to get to a competent dealership.

I'm having the surging issue as well. JLUR Purchased in Sep. 2018.

I tried to have it fixed at 2 different dealers late last year (in the cooler weather) and they said they could not duplicate the problem and did not perform the TSB even though I printed it out and gave it to them upon arriving for my appt.

Hoping that they have some more familiarity with this issue now that it is summer and maybe seeing more of these issues.

When I first brought it in for this issue, my JL was stock. Since then I have put a lot of upgrades on it, (Wheels, tires, drive shafts, regear) so I hope I don't get any pushback about them wanting to fix it due to my upgrades. I do have a FlashCal programmer for the tire size and regear, but that is not causing this issue.

that has nothing to do with a cooling fan being loud if they don't want to fix it go to another dealer if they don't contact Jeep wave they have people they posted earlier they will help you just call Jeep wave and get them involved. they have people that will help you I'm telling you I'm a one-to-ten it used to be at 10 now its a 0 I hear no noise at all it's worth 30 minutes at the dealership find one that will help you tell them you're going to call Jeep are Mopar get them involved. They're just being lazy it takes 5 minutes to look it up. Tell them you're going to get Mopar involved in Jeep wave if they don't want to do it go somewhere else there's plenty dealers that will do it. Don't let them tell you all they're all that loud yes they are until the software update came out

I took my '18 JLUR in today for the TSB noted in this thread. Loud fan. Surging idle.

I literally saved the image on my phone and showed the TSB number to the dealer. They were great about it. They took the car, gave me a loaner (i did have to request it when i made the appt) and they called me a couple hours later to tell me that I was right - it needed the update and they completed it. I can't tell if it made a difference yet, but it's done and it was easy.

My only questions with this whole thing are (1) why I didn't receive notification of this TSB, and (2) why they didn't know to do it a couple of months ago when I brought it in for the ESS/Bad secondary battery/AppleCarplay Bad GPS issues. All have since been fixed, but i had to do the research to direct them more specifically myself. All thanks to this website.

Also, I have to say hats off to Lithia Jeep here in Portland. Customer service was outstanding. In and out super fast even though there was a line when I got there.

The condenser(outside at radiator) rejects the heat from the evaporator(inside the cabin). The fans help reject this heat so the refrigerant can keep cooling(absorbing heat in the evaporator) .

The increase in ambient heat increases the refrigerant pressures. The byproduct of this change of states is cooling. So yes it can effect it. How much who knows, but the engineer who designed it.

I have a 2019 JLUR and live in the humid south. My ac works just fine to me. The fan doesnā€™t sound that much louder than my 4Runner. I think the open air nature of the wrangler might make it sound loud to some. I think We all have different opinions about itā€™s loudness tho. I highly doubt the fca engineers would apply a fix that would harm the system or degrade its effectiveness.
The loud fan software fix was implemented in the factory as some point. So your 2019 JL may have already had the software fix applied at the factory.

glad to hear you got it fixed that's great. The reason you to get notification yes it's not a safety issue for them to put out a recall on this would cost millions and millions and they don't want to do that they should notify people when they come in for oil changes. hey you need to get this fixed you want us to do a software update on it but I guess it's somebody else don't want to do it because it cost money and time even though they'll get reimbursed from Mopar
