I thought that I've read in a couple places the Metalcloak skid system actually reduces ground clearance.

Can anyone confirm this?

Almost all of my add-ons thus far been made by Metalcloak they are all top-notch and I would prefer to stick with them.

However, in the spirit of keeping an open mind I'd like to hear what others are using that are comparable.

I installed the Undercloak system a while back. It is great but I’ve definitely lost clearance - although that’s to be expected.

My Jeep has a lot of weight on it - LoD stubby front bumper, winch, ACE sliders, Undercloak skids, and Rhino Rack roof rack. I’m running 315/70/17s on my JLUR with no lift. @chevymitchell measured from the ground to the highest point on the front fender flare and it sits nearly 2 inches lower than his new 2 door Recon.

A lift and 37s are next on my list of mods.

With the extra weight and 35" tires are you rubbing at all?

The gas tank skid goes over the OE skid so I assume you lose a little there.

When you come out, check out ours. The loss of clearance is minor compared the the incredible strength and protection gained.

ours are smashed and bashed after our rubicon trip but they bottom of the Jeep was protected and looks great!

Every skid system, other than Artec, loses ground clearance. Artec gains 3/4" from stock, so about 7/8-1" more clearance than anything else on the market.

I had no idea that the Artec provided that much extra clearance. Damn. Of course it is $1200 more than the aluminum skids I put on from Quadratec.

This is why I chose the Artec setup myself, plus it only added 10 lbs of weight over stock. It is a premium though, I bought it when they had the 25% off deal.

Same here! The discount pushed me over the edge.
