Kind of my point. They should be contacting me to update me when something changes or the original timeline changes. Part of their job I would imagine. If it wasn't for me contacting them I would have no information at all.
And the saga continues. Another new ETA for the steering gear box, no word from FCA or the dealership until I call them. Getting very frustrated with waiting and even more frustrated with the complete lack of follow through with the dealer and FCA. Why do I have to be the one calling when the date changes for the 4th time? Only silver lining is they told me it's an AE version of the steering gear box for my 2 door. Not holding my breath on if that's true until I see it.

Also curious on how you find and contact the area district manager for Jeep? Anyone know? Tired of dealing with this.

Sorry about the wait, but this is the first I heard about an AE box for a 2-door

I have an appointment regarding my steering Friday and will ask.

I asked twice and that's what they told me. It's apparently coming from the assembly plant. Maybe the AE is in the 2020 2 doors be produced now. I will definitely let everyone know if this is true whenever I get my Jeep back.

That would be great news—let's hope they're right.

Hi jforse,

Please keep us updated on your dealer visit. If it would be of interest, we'd be happy to have your situation documented and looked into further by one of our case specialists. We're just a PM away.

@JeepCares I Dropped off the Jeep with 4469 miles and picked it up with 4469 miles. I asked them to verify/check alignment after they were done. They agreed when I dropped it off. When I picked it up they told me it didn't need it with a track bar swap. I told them that is correct for toe but the steering wheel may not be clocked right. Well sure enough as soon as I drove out of the lot down the road the steering wheel is off. Turned around and went back to the dealer. They didn't care. Didn't even offer to get it back in to check. Just said tech said it didn't need it. I am so fed up with FCA dealers and their incompetent Technicians. What is the point of having a new Jeep with a new vehicle warranty if you have to do all the work on it yourself???

They refuse to ride in the vehicle with you. I have asked multiple times at two different dealers.

Mine has been seen four times for steering.
They have never offered to ride along with me, but will gladly write “drives as designed”.

After two days they did say they are “waiting for a similar JL to drive and compare” to mine, I said there are five Rubicon’s sitting right there. They said, “we can’t use those, they are for sale”. So, I took my Jeep home with nothing done to it.

Same here. Had new track bar installed and asked for the alignment mentioned in the TSB and Star bulletin. They said “it doesn’t need an alignment, we can tell from looking at it”.

any well known dealer will gladly find a same if not almost identical one to drive to verify IF it gets that far

I read this thread and my husband checked the torque on the bolts:
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sway-bar-links-loose-nuts.33660/

They were not to spec and tightening them has helped the loose feeling we had when driving towards Tahoe. I think those bolts have loosened recently because the steering has been feeling looser and at times really unsettling. This is different than the play/slop in the wheel. That hasn’t changed, but it’s not as scary now.

I have a 2020 2-door Rubicon. It has an AE steering box. Still has dead spot in center. See my other posts.
That’s disappointing to hear. How much of a dead spot do you have?
