Looking for tire wisdom *Updated*

Unfortunately, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that Toyo listed the 35x12.50R/17’s Twice on the website, thought it was a blurb, and didn’t click on the second listing, and check the spec’s. I didn’t look at other wheel sizes, but the 35x12.5R/17’s were the only size that showed two options, in hindsight, the “C Rated” version may have been better for me, 6 pounds a tire less would have been Nice, I’m sure the BILL would have been Lighter as well.

End of the day, I’m Very Happy with the how they have held up, and performed, so no regrets.

Buying four C rateds will certainly be more expensive than buying three E rateds, and I won’t mix the one E with three C’s, so the next set will be E’s as well

What site ? Toyo shows other popular sizes (265,75,85/70, 285/75, 35/12.50) in different load options. C load higher priced ? 3 vs 4 ? — I musta missed something.

It was Toyo’s website, I only looked at the 17” wheel options for the ATIII, and was specifically looking at the 35x12.50R/17, maybe I missed something, or was in a different wheel size?

I haven’t priced them yet, but if I stay with the E Rated, my spare has never been driven on, so I would order 3 new E rated tires, and use the best current tire for my spare

If I go with the C rated tires, then I have to buy 4, and the current spare will likely never get driven on, pretty expensive tire to let rot on the tailgate

I imagine that 3 E rated tires would be cheaper than 4 C rated tires

My day is going ok, I guess, still waiting to hear about getting an appointment to get my injured knee looked at, it’s almost been a month since I was injured

I can stand, and walk a bit, it is no longer an excruciating sharp pain, but too much walking, still makes it ache really bad

Still waiting for that winning lottery ticket,
But I woke up on Top of the Dirt, not with the dirt on Top of Me, so could be Better, and could be Worse

Mike, yep you’re right, there are other sizes, with multiple options, I wasn’t paying much attention to those as I scrolled by, I knew they weren’t sizes I was interested in, so I didn’t notice them, honestly until you mentioned the 35x12.50R/17 being C rated, I didn’t notice or click on the second option, the E rated were the first option, and I clicked on those, didn’t even think to check the second option, my bad

Well— the knee explains the “self medicating” - those listed were for 17” wheels…. I didn’t do a 5 tire rotation on my 63 because it had 4 HD off road mags with a much lighter but look alike standard one for the spare when I got it…. I would burn the next set off, then go 5 tire rotation to not limit future options, or they become obsolete as the KO2’s are making a further match difficult if not impossible

edit- I did end up with a mismatched spare when I joined a duck/bird club and needed MT’s.

It gets better— the “D” load 35/12.50’s are shown as 315/70’s, same specs otherwise.

So I decided to go with the 305/70r17 from Firestone Destination XT. So you may wonder why I went and repurchased them in a larger size versus some other awesome looking RT/ATs on the market today. I really wanted a 305/70r17 and out of all of them these were the lightest tires at 58 lbs. The other tires were 7+ lbs heavier. So while I'd love to have a cooler looking tire I didn't think the looks outweighed the weight difference for me. Its actually why I purchased those tires originally was how light they were. Plus after living with them for the last 3 years I've really enjoyed how reliable and predictable they are in snow, rain, and the desert terrain here. These installed on my JLU actually measure to 33"s exact (Before I removed the old ones they measured 31.75" on my JLU and if I recall right they were 32" new). These tires to me seem to be the perfect size for a Sport with standard fenders

wishing for some 255/85r17 cutters with the RWL, but I know it’s not in the plans.

I’m a sucker for the white lettering and the MT BB (which are the only ones in the market in that size) are only blackwall unfortunately!

I like the white lettering too. Tire paint marker is an option. I just did a few letters, it seems to be holding up well.
