So the front fenders are about 1" too high to keep the side of my Jeep from getting totally messed up driving up my dirt driveway. From a one mile long trip this is what it looks like this time of year in Colorado. Looking for suggestions on how to fill that gap - only about an inch between the fender and the side step. A mudflap won't fit with my side step there.

Why not modify a mudflap? I purchased the ones from weathertech they have the rubi rails notched out so that they fit over my rails, but I would imagine you could use a jigsaw or sharp knife and do a little trim so that they fit right to your rails .
Worth a try!

I used foam pipe insulation for this, dark gray. It comes in several diameters, choose which ever fits tight, trim to fit. A dab of adhesive, such as "Goop", will keep it in place

I would purchase a mud flap that you like, and then take cardboard cut it to the same shape as the mud flap. Then take the cardboard and cut out the area over the sidesteps and use that as a template to modify the mud flap.

If it were me I would do this but modify the mud flap to be very short on the outside of the fender and then drop down to go over the step. Hard to explain but I can see what I’d do. Shouldn’t be a hard fix.

Actually after looking at mud flaps mounted on JL’s to help you out, it looks like it will clear your side steps fine. They would mount further forward in the fender well area and would not come in contact at all with your side steps.

This is just an example of how they fit with customer pics.

I made my own to match up to my LOD sliders. Kydex works great (yes, the stuff that holsters are made of), just heat it up and mold it as needed.

5x6” piece of 0.080 kydex for each side. Mark the holes at the bottom of the well liner where the 2 push panel retainers attach. Smooth side to the front. Nip the bottom corners for a more rounded finish.

just score the kydex with a box knife a couple times and snap it over the edge of a table. The small piece keeps a lot of the mucky stuff from getting slung on to the sides without being obvious.

Here’s a picture of what I did. I just noticed the additional panel fastener circled in red. You could probably make something similar that is L shaped and use that as an additional attachment point. FYI- I just slipped my version behind the liner so it wasn’t a catch point.

This is one of the reasons I kept my Sahara steps. I like what you all have done. Now I might consider a slider, or step bar if I see one that I like. I don't actually use my steps, but I like that they keep peoples doors from being able to hit my Jeep, and they keep some of the mud from kicking up onto the body. It appears I now have options, thanks.
