I'm not personally buying it's parts shortages or covid issues. Jeeps ordered way after mine with same or similar builds have been produced rather quickly while my 11/1 order is supposedly scheduled for 4/1 build date.
Curious who told you the 4/1 build date? Did you see actual paperwork with that date on it, i.e. an updated POC from your dealer?

Does anyone know from where these infamous, non-existent chips are sourced? China, Taiwan, Nebraska.?
Asia, and yes the chip shortage is real. It’s affecting all manufacturers and some are just removing options, such as cross-traffic alert and rear parking assist in order to keep the manufacturing moving. One can think of it this way, if consumers weren’t so reliant on many of these non-necessary options (blind spot monitoring, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.) that would lessen the burden on all these requires chips.

Dealer told me that was the word from the regional rep. They've been honest and accommodating so far. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But note in the sentence you quoted the word "supposedly"

I agree it might help some, but there are so many chips in vehicles these days, I'm not sure it would have a significant impact.

I’d ask for an updated POC. That date seems awfully far out for them to have it scheduled.

Well it hasn't been relayed to them, but my firm deadline is 5/1. If it's not built, I'm pulling my order and reordering through Gupton. This time, since I actually have some money saved up now (and will have more by May), I'll be getting the Rubicon with a premium top, half doors, and the cold weather package (I know...more chips!) like I should have initially. =)

I heard some guy in N. Texas was building them, at about three or four a day...but who really knows.

Mine sat on a train for a month, then it took another 2 weeks to get it 120miles to the dealer.
Did you get an ETA before it got there or did you get nothing and then it just showed up one day?

So on the shipping side of things….what is the hold up? Shipping companies not rehiring the people they laid off almost two years ago? I just don’t understand how or why shipping is still so disrupted within the US.

We had a meeting with a major shipping company today. They aren't an auto shipper but it is the same across the board. This company said that they are one of the highest paying LTL shippers in the US. He said at one point they had a waiting list of drivers wanting to work for them. They required a 2 year safe driving record. Now they have lowered that requirement to 6 months and they are offering a 10k signing bonus. They cannot fill all the positions they have open.

from what I hear if the trucking industry is representative of the entire shipping industry, workers are leaving; not many younger ones are interested in getting a job. Or it’s a training delay. And then there‘s tonights news……

That’s crazy. So basically a huge percentage of the trucking industry walked out and went on to do…..what?
