Has anyone had any long term storage or repetitive use issues (ex. hard top cracking / deformity) with hard top hoists and the points of contact on the hard top? I'm currently looking at a harken hoist and have noticed other owners using pool noodles to modify padding. My main concern is that the hoist seems to "support" the weight of the hard top in places that are not normally meant to support load.

My hoist consists of 4 ratchet straps. The left front strap hooks to the left rear strap on the inside of the top. The right front strap hooks to the right rear strap. There are 12.5" pool noodles in each of the 4 corners where the straps make contact with the top. In my opinion, this distributes the weight more evenly and in a safer manner than having each strap hook just to the corners.

This works very well. Very easy to lift off and put back on.

There are lots of YouTube videos out there. Just do your research.

You mind measuring the width at the bottom? I plan on building a shelf. Thanks.

I built a shelf for mine to avoid any possible issues from that.
I like this setup. I have 12' ceilings in my garage so I may build a hoist and cable system with a shelf like you did.

What are the dimensions of your platform?

I made a video on my setup, specifically detailing a metal "T" brace for the hardtop. Can't remember the dimensions of the platform but i say them toward the end.

Thanks. you said 48" x 69". Careful putting the eyebolts in at 90 degrees to the load. I've read the support is materially reduced at such an angle.

10 years of hanging my JKU's top from my garage with no issues, 5 years with the TJ same story.
