Local group giving a "Day in the dirt" to Big Brother Big Sister of Southern Nevada

EDIT - We just had our 2nd outting and what a success it was. We are now going to have discussions on an extended run as we have been within a time crunch each time. The organization is even opening up to ideas of a night run! Pretty exciting. Updated video, most pics from the 1st outting, vid from part of the 2nd outting:


I run a couple of off road groups here in Las Vegas and always looking for ways to give back. So why not include the off roadies, we have some really good people within our group. Many people around the country give back both individually in so many ways and I've heard of other off road groups giving back in their own ways as well.

Reached out to Big Brother Big Sister of Southern Nevada with an idea to take a group of their "Littles" with their "Big" (their mentor) out for a day in the dirt. It was a long shot, what group would think this is a good thing? Well, they thought it was an awesome idea.

Couple weekends ago it happened, we committed to 10 kids with their mentors along with some staff. Talk about some big smiles!! Used my jeep for the day, my Bronco was being used to pick up all the pizza and bring to the trail for the kids.

What a great time we had, in another week, we will have part 2 with another 10 kids, looking forward to creating more smiles.

i drove for an event that used to be called Kids on the Rocks years ago; was heartwarming to see the smiles on some of these underprivileged kids, and heartbreaking to learn it was the first time some of them had ever even heard a bird sing.

wouldn’t hesitate to do it again, and would encourage anyone to do it. it’s good for those you drive, and good for you too.

Each Little left smiling, while the rest of us left feeling better about ourselves as well. Super proud of the group of volunteers I had as there was no obligation to do so. Sometimes, you just do what you can to help create smiles.

Absolutely awesome! Two things near and dear to my heart, kids and animals. No, I’m not a PETA vegan living in my mom’s basement. I just believe children and our pets (or animals in general) should not be abused and should be able to trust those to which their lives have been entrusted to.

I find it crazy that great news like this gets lost because it doesn’t shock people, it’s a quick “scroll right past this story” and then some other BS news or some tockytickers will become rich by showing you how to put on makeup.

Its a sad dark world we live in but you’ve just made it brighter for some!

Thanks everyone, this one as I told my group was for something bigger than ourselves. We just had our 2nd outing this past Saturday and it was even better. This time we bypassed the obstacles headed straight for 3 hill climbs. Combined pictures from the 1st outing with some vids from the 2nd outing on the original post.

The usual pizza was brought out by the wife, had a volunteer go meet her at the trailhead while the rest of the group kept having fun in the dirt. Organization is now open to longer runs as 4 hours just isnt long enough when you meetup in a parking lot, intro's, drivers meet, educating tread light principles to the kids, then heading off to air down. Hitting the trail...having lunch somewhere in between, then airing back up and heading back to the parking lot.

More to come in the future which includes epic runs out of state to waterfalls, night runs, etc. I know there are a ton of off road groups within each state, would highly encourage all of you to try and come up with something to give back.....when and if possible.
