Here is some surveillance... Chrysler employees getting high and drinking at lunch.

In my early 20's I worked on boats on the manufacturing level. This was a common occurrence; even middle management will be hiding in the parking lot with their favorites.

How would you like a camera over your shoulder while you are at work all day long?
Working in aviation now, I'm used to it. Some operators are paranoid.

There used to be a live webcam set up that watched new BMW's being driven out of the building they were assembled in at one of their factories in Munich, I think. I don't know how you'd be able to identify any particular one unless you knew the precise time it rolled out of the building. As mentioned above, there's no way they'd allow that in the US anyway. But it would be cool.

In college, I convinced three of my friends to road trip from Texas to NYC for Spring Break. The whole idea started with me and my best friend, around Thanksgiving, talking about how cool it would be to go to the National Corvette Museum. Then we decided that if we're going to drive that far, we might as well drive to NYC too.

And we did it. And it was amazing. We stayed with some friends in Nashville on our way back, did the Corvette factory tour and then the museum for like, a whole day.

I've been a Corvette fan since I was like, 6. I'll never, ever forget the feeling of coming around the curve of the freeway and the museum coming into view around the terrain. I was in college, so I was obviously wearing flip flops, and didn't even think about it being a factory floor. I *almost* didn't get to go on the tour. Luckily, the girl that was with us (there's always one dude who inconveniently has a girlfriend) had a pair of sneakers in the trunk. They were *tiny* so I folded the heel down and wore them like slip-ons through the tour.

Then a few years later, after college graduation, me and a buddy went to Florida, and I remembered that one of the only two known remaining ZL1s was at Rogers Corvette Center in Orlando, Florida.

So we went.

I literally couldn't speak. Like, my vocal cords physically couldn't function. It was amazing just to see such a legendary beast.

One of these days, I'm going to have a 1969 Stingray in Monaco orange. But for now, the Jeep is damn fun.

An absolutely horrible idea.
For a brief time, the clowns in charge at the place I work thought it would be great to stream a live feed to YouTube of what we do. They even went as far as including the live chat room feature.

The result was stalking, stalking and more stalking. The shot was stationary but did include the employee parking lot. GENIUS!
Female employees were pinpointed by what they drove, the hours and days they worked and the area they worked in. They all had nicknamesā€¦ you can imagine. Viewership was in the thousands and worldwide, which meant great ad revenue for the business, but a 100% creep factor happening all day/all night. There were ā€œregularsā€ that would check in every day, chat with each other and make awful comments about the people doing their job. The ā€œmodsā€ on the channel were complicit in making the livestream a circus.

It all came crashing down when one of the regulars started making comments about the (unknown to the commenter) owners college age niece. We pointed this out (with screenshots) to the owner and the channel was finally taken down.

I wouldnā€™t wish that kind of intrusion into someoneā€™s workplace on anyone.

To add to this idea how cool would it be to have an approved aftermarket vendor list and if you buy from one of them they will install those parts on your jeep at the factory while you get to watch it get built.

If you look at the Toledo facility it can actually handle this kind of logistics.

A guy I was talking to at a local car show a few months back got to get escorted down the final assembly line by a factory rep at the Bowling Green Corvette plant. He first hand got to watch (and chat with the various assemblers) his car on its final trip on the line.
He said it was rhe coolest thing!.
And then of course, museum delivery! šŸ˜ƒ

I custom ordered a 2012 BMW X3 for my wife. They provided me with an email that linked to a video of our car actually being built (in Spartanburg, South Carolina) as it went down the assembly line. That was cool; but I doubt they do that any more.
