What is considered a seriously low oil pressure?
Depends what we’re using as a benchmark. The mid-20s PSI seen in the gen3 3.0 when cruising around are lower than what most of us are used to with older diesels, but is apparently normal for this one. Idle PSI can be in the teens with other diesels when warm so I guess that’s more of a wash depending on engine and conditions. Either way, average operating PSI with the gen3 3.0 is lower than most older diesel engine designs as far as I can tell.

I checked my pressure at idle before and after oil change today, 22 psi. Old oil had 9,233 miles on it

Speaking of oil change, I took pics of front and rear of jug.. happy to report no stripper glitter in the old oil either. The techs were cool enough to let me stand there and watch them work. We caught a sample and shined flashlight through the clear container.

Not cheap. Thankful for the Jeep wave program, first for oil changes are free.

OK gents here’s an interesting wrinkle. Got my 10k mile change done at 9827 miles and the dealer used Pennzoil...Ultra 5w40 Euro rather than Platinum 5w40 Euro. Part number of what went in is 5127394PE. The spec sheet for this oil lists 12991 compatibility but comes from 2013. I didn’t realize that material standard has been around that long or that Ultra Euro and Platinum Euro both meet it. Thoughts?

9,827 miles. Sheww... cuttin' it close right there. Of course, I'm sure you've got a better relationship with your dealer than the guy who went 10,200 miles and had warranty work denied on the basis that he failed to honor the requirements of the manual.

Yeah the 12991 spec has been around a long time. It was developed back when the little turbo motors with direct injection started to become a thing and they were really hard on engine oil. I guess FCA figured that if 12991 was good enough for gas turbo engines, it'll work for diesel turbo engines too. Time will tell I suppose.

Yea I called their parts dept a few hundred miles earlier to ensure they had a 12991 oil and 3.0 filter available...otherwise they take walk-ins for oil changes so it’s fairly easy to cut the timing close.

I worry about taking it into the dealer and them just putting whatever they have in the pump straight into the engine. I used to work at a Dodge dealer in San Diego and those oil techs pretty much didn't care about jack shit. I have a hard time trusting they'll do what they say they do. This is based off of personal experience.

Valid concern.
I asked if I could have the oil/filter and change it myself to save them some time, denied.

I thought about doing the same, but figured I'd get the response that you got. Figures.

I said the heck with it and am not going to utilize their free oil change program. I've already purchased enough oil, oil filters, air filters, and fuel filters to get me through the first 30 or 40 thousand miles.

Like I've seen others post here, I can't afford the free oil changes.....

I just spoke to my dealership and they informed me they put Rotella T6 5w-40 in and it is approved by FCA. I am asking them for something in writing about that.

I spoke with the service manager who read from the service manual that the spec called for in the service manual is Rotella T6 5W-40. He also went on to say that FCA no longer has a contract with Penzoil and all of the oil at their dealerships comes from Shell now. Confirmed with the service tech that he put Rotella Synthetic T6 5W-40 in my engine when I had the oil changed and he let me watch him do it as he pulled the caps off the bottles which I inspected to verify.

My Engine absolutely has Rotella T6 5W-40 oil in it, at least as of my oil change today.
