Why do you need an adapter? Thousands of people run nonhubcentric wheels without issues. Very overblown topic and waste of $ on adapters.
Re-Read my post. It is clear that an adapter is "NOT NEEDED", and I also outlined one reason not to use it...question is does an adapter "CAUSE" a problem?

Summary so far:
* Adapters cause over confidence and people tend to not torque properly.

* It appears that you could have a problem if the adapter metal material is dissimilar to the wheel material..that will cause corrosion.

* Plastic adapters will melt if over heated.

* Adapters won't fit all wheels

So far none of these spell absolute doom when using an adapter. The first item is the main reason why people are against the adapter, and is the most valid reason.

So after reading this whole thread I am still a little confused. Everything is listed for a Rubicon. So for a sport or Sahara with 2.5 lift, lift people say 4.5 backspacing. What 17x8.5 or 9 wheel with 4.5 backspacing what offset should I get for a 35 to have good articulate and the tire not stick out vary far?

This sounds like an entirely dumb question at this point but is 71.5mm considered hub centric on a JL or is it a different diameter? I thought for sure it was 71.5mm but seeing things now that cause me to wonder. But that would mean this entire thread is wrong and that can’t be the case.

It is 71.5mm, what was causing you to wonder?

I saw this thread, and had to chime in. I put a set of hub-piloted wheels on an old truck that was set up for stud-piloted wheels. I spent a little time in my machine shop, where I made sleeves or bushings or whatever that were a kiss fit inside the lug holes on the wheels, and a kiss fit slipping over the threads on the studs. Using three of these sleeves per wheel got them centered up really well. I was very impressed with the gigantic difference I was able to make in exchange for an hour or two on the lathe, and some thinking.

If your wheels have a larger center bore, should you run hubcentric rings before going to large, heavy tires?

I've used hub rings on our Infiniti and it helped reduce a small vibration I had at one wheel. I would recommend them, but if you get them be sure to get the aluminum ones, the plastic ones work for a short while but tend to get brittle and crack over time.

If they are available for the application, you should. Technically not needed, however hub centric rings help align/center the wheel and tire assembly on the hub pilot.

It's important to note that wheels utilizing a push through the back style center cap, can not run hub centric rings.

The KMC XD129 are +38 and are right at stock BS. They don’t stick out at all on my JLUR. Not my thing either, that’s why I went with them.
Can you please provide me with the details of this wheel. Is it 17 x 8 ? A link to the exact wheel that you are using would be greatly appreciated.

Just what I needed, man. Thanks. I can say more or less that I joined this forum in order to thank you for this post  But I'll stay for a while, I guess.
