Lift Options for 2018 4-Door Rubicon

I am new to the forum and am grateful this exists. I am in the process of purchasing a 2018 Rubicon and have been looking at lift options. I viewed a current dealership that has several jeeps lifted using 4inch Skyjacker products, EVO brackets, and skyjacker steering stabilizers. My concern is that a lift of this height with 37inch tires will require changes to steering, driveshafts, geometry, and brake lines. I do not plan to take this major off roading but would like to use it for some recreational fun at beach and a small trail. My question is what lift is best (Mopar, Rubicon Express, 2,2.5inch). This will not be my daily driver, just 1-2 days a week to work and weekends. Seeking help from the real Jeep experts and not yet dealerships or sales reps trying to sell me. Thanks so very much in advance for your advice.

Do you even need a lift then? Sound like if you got one then you really would not use it. A Rubi is perfectly capable of handling the beach and small trails. If you are dead set on a lift then I would just have the dealer install a Mopar lift and 35" tires and call it a day. And you are correct about everything mentioned above that needs to be taken into consideration when you add a lift.

Seems you are not doing offroad a lot, let me do the math for you:

You pay
  • $1300 for Mopar lift
  • $300 for installation
  • $1250 for five new 35 tires
[Optional]
  • $1000 for new wheels
  • $500 for new control arms
  • $150 for recalibration or $300 for programmer
[Optional 2]
  • $500 for oversize tire carrier
  • $2000 for regear

So you spend $3000~$5000 depending on if you want to do it right or just lift it. You will get
  • Badass look
  • Higher clearance (but you are not going to wheel a lot)
  • Less MPG
  • More road noise
  • Higher center of gravity so more chance to roll over
  • Bad geometry if you did not correct it with control arms
  • Potential premature wear in driveline

Keep in mind stock Rubicon is very capable.

If you're only going to 35" tires, I wouldn't bother with a lift. Many have run that with a stock rubi and they are very capable as is. 35" tires, stock wheels, spacers if you need them. Would make a very capable, cool looking, low profile rig.

BTW, some are saying that the Mopar lift has been closer to a 3", that makes 35" look small. I'd do 37's if you go with that lift, or any lift >2".

A Wrangler is very capable right off the lot, even a base Sport.

Here is 35s and no lift, get a little bit of rub on back Inner plastic fender at full flex but not enough to tear anything up, doesn’t sound like you’ll be that twisted up anyway.

Sounds like you want a certain look rather than specific capability. Save some money and get a Sport or Sahara and put the lift and tires on it. With a Rubicon, you're paying for wheels, tires, Dana 44s, E-lockers, E-swaybar disconnect, suspension, and some minor dodads. All of these you don't need or will remove to do what you related.

The Skyjacker lift provides more lift than advertised.

5 inches front
4.5 inches rear

I think 37s will look small. I'm running 40s with a modified version of this kit.
