cool little trail with just a few obstacles that is very scenic!

to start the trail; you have to take the first road off I-40 past the welcome center heading west towards Tennessee. you have to be looking for it, it’s not an exit.

Cody - Rattlesnake Ridge and surrounding trails

Great drive in the Cody, WY area. I think we went into 4Hi once. Lots of great little trails to hike and lots to drive. Our round trip was 42 miles from the main road. Pick it up off hwy 120 at Monument Hill Road.

This may be the best thread I've seen on this forum since I joined. Awesome stuff. And makes me super jealous of you people out west in CO and AZ. Absolutely spectacular. Thanks for all the awesome pictures.
Exactly what I was thinking!

Is that Hurricane Creek to Max Patch? My in-laws have a cabin in Maggie Valley and that is on my list.

Near Ruidoso, NM, Lincoln National Forest

The drive up is all on unpaved roads. There are a few steep spots and drop offs, but overall an easy drive. The views of the Lincoln National Forest are fantastic and 360 degrees from the lookout building. When you reach Monjeau Lookout it is accessible, with the exception of the office at the very top of the building.

If you ever make your way to Pennsylvania.

Some of the best Fly fishing can be done here as well

Lots of what the DCNR consider " driveable trails" Most of the forest roads are accessible by a sedan but there a quite a few " high clearance 4wd" trails. GPS and cell phone service is weak so I suggest if you ever make your way to Pennsylvania to pick up a Purple Lizard map of bald eagle state forest. Purple lizard also has maps for surrounding states as well of all state forest trails.
This is a good write up about Bald Eagle State forest : https://www.purplelizard.com/blogs/...ald-eagle-state-forest-millheim-to-weikert-pa

fantastic thread!

just got back from the Yampa Bench Road in Colorado running through Dinosaur National Monument. About 50 miles from one end to the other with nothing technical, but pretty impassable in wet weather. Some great viewpoints of the river and valleys, petroglyphs and a couple canyon hikes.

Great thread! I was going to see some Texas trails in here, but it looks like it would be worth it to road trip to CO.
