Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
There are many different companies that make a ring and pinion gear set for the JL wranglers and the price varies substantially. The ones listed below are the for the front dana 44 axle in 4.88 gears.

REVOLUTION GEAR DANA 44 4.88........$245.99
ALLOY USA DANA 44 4.88.......................$319.99
DANA 44 FRONT ADVANTEK..................$289.99
G2 AXLE AND GEAR DANA 44................$299.99
Yukon Gear & Axle Ring and Pinion.......$327.49
Dana Spicer Ring & Pinion Set................$239.99

That is about a 30% spread from lowest to highest. Is there really any measurable difference in quality or performance between the gear sets? Just trying to figure out what to purchase as that is almost a $200 dollar swing in price when buying the front and the back.

We only buy Dana spicer. Not worth any savings to me to buy aftermarket. Haven’t used the others but can say we’re very pleased with what we get

Funny thing is...in his example, the Danas ARE the cheapest. That's usually not the case OP. I'd make sure your getting the D44 gears for the latest JL axles. They are not the same as the standard D44 gears, JFYI...if you didn't already know.
Sean brings up a great point. You want the 210/220 advantek ones

Maybe someone can answer this for me. I regeared to 4.88 (G2) for my 38's and had a guy asking if the 4.10 gears out of my JLUR would work on his JLU Sahara. I actually didn't know since the anti-slip D44 upgrade on the Sahara is different than the one on the Rubicon. Not sure if he has the upgrade or not, but does anyone know if they work with all JL Sports and Sahara's? Sure there is an easier way to ask this.

I believe the rear would be fine but the front is the 186 front axle. I know how expensive regearing is but I would honestly suggest just buying new gears with master install kits

I'm going to suggest that to the guy. I bought mine and had them installed at the same place with a 3 year warranty on everything and a 10 year on the parts, just in case I did break one of the teeth.

I have a great place that is going to install them. They use will use what ever gears I want. They primarily use Revolution Gear, Yukon Gear, Dana, G2, and Motive.

Is there any that gear sets that i should stay away from?
