:CWL: Thatā€™s because it's a prop. I had to use my phone to take the pic, so I used the case. I noticed it looked weird when I posted it. But I didnā€™t care and thought no one else would either.

So I got the esr mount today.

First the clamp was to small for the 1" ram mount ball

So then I took apart the mount. Had a shot. And figured I could mount the smaller ball platform (top left in pic above) to the plug.

So I grabbed some 1/8 x 2 inch bolt and nut, drilled the backside of the plug to counter sink the nut and attached it all

This is the finished product

And mounted.

As u can see verticle it sits just above the transfer case shifter

There's still room to shift to 4 hi. After that no issue.

I might make some minor tweaks to it but for now I'm pretty happy with the result.

What do you all think?
Excellent solution. It's funny how the cigarette lighter is considered wasted space for so many people now that USB has taken over.

I bet an aftermarket company could take this a step further and make something a little more permanent. The socket is completely removable and the panel has a round hole and a keyway. Wonder what else this could be used for...

Hmm, do they make a holster for Sig Sauer p226, that would be convenient.

He may very well make one. The pic on his web page shows a Sig Sauer in a leather holster, although it looks like one that attaches to your belt for personal carry.

Gibson Leatherworks

Shoot Mark a PM, he's a forum sponsor and goes by the name of @Blkjak , or send him an email [email protected] and ask if he can make one for you that's similar to the JL Phone Holster.

Mark is super nice to deal with.

How does this attach?
You remove one existing screw on the side of the console, and replace it with a longer screw and spacer that are provided.

Here's two pics of the front and back side of the JL/JT Phone Holster and the hardware that comes with it.

I still havenā€™t figured out whyā€¦ because your not supposed to have to take it out of your pocket to start the vehicle. šŸ¤·šŸ»
Idk I guess if you are off roading you can leave it in there for the day so you don't lose it in the bush?

Mine goes right here. I donā€™t have a need to see it often when driving.

Same place, but laying sideways and connected to the USB-C port in the center cluster. Minor functions can be used with Siri using the VR button on the steering wheel, and some more sophisticated things with Apple Carplay on the uConnect 8.4" radio. Anything more complicated than that, I pick up the phone when I'm not moving.

But I do wish I'd get myself some sort of dock for the phone that either has wireless charging or has an Apple Lightning connector in the bottom for it to slide into.

I have the base radio. Once itā€™s connected through port 2, I can control everything though the steering wheel or screen. The only thing I canā€™t do is change the app or playlist. Not a big deal. I like the cord in the console better than hanging from the dash. I hate clutter.

My setup. I use the USB in the center console. Tuck the cord in on the passenger side of the center console, and the phone fits perfectly in the little crevice in front of the shifter.

Minimal cords visible, no extra hardware, phone never slides around and Android auto gets me most everything unless I'm on a Zoom call on the way to work... But it's usually on Waze.

I use this Bulletpoint mounting system.

That's awesome, I have the Bulletpoint mount and never thought to mount it that way. I don't like to have my phone sticking up vertically partially blocking the view of the windshield like most people do.

I'm going to configure mine this way. My normal way is mounted horizontal.
