I wouldnt recommend 35's on a sport with just a rubi suspension if you want any room for articulation and want to keep your turn radius.
However, 33's work well on the sport with a rubi suspension.
The sport fenders are 2" lower than the rubi and are not good for bigger tires. Here's my sport with 315/70/17 ko2's and rubi takeoff suspension that came off a hardtop/steel bumper rubi. Need about an inch of backspacing if it you dont want to rub on control arm when turning and another inch of height if you want to offroad your vehicle without ripping your fenders off.

Added a 2.5" rubi suspension lift which raised the sport about 3".

I have the rubi suspension on mine with the 285/70/17 ko2’s and then I added spacers. With my sway bar still connected I was getting some rubbing on my rear fenders. I think if the spacers were taken off it would be fine. I think with high fenders this setup would be nice for 35’s

With 35s they rub on the control arm when turning? Rubis dont have this issue? Do they have different control arms?

How does it drive with stock gearing?

Im looking to run 35s for off road days. Wondering how it will crawl with stock gears

4dr rubicon Springs/shocks, rubicon express disconnects and mopar lower control arm. All to be installed with 315/70R17 Duratracs and 17x8.5 procomp 0 offset wheels

With 35s they rub on the control arm when turning? Rubis dont have this issue? Do they have different control arms? Because rubicons have 1.5" wider axles pushing the tires wider.

How does it drive with stock gearing? Weak with a 6 speed and 3.45 gearing and 35's.. 6th gear was gone...didnt like it.

Not good...I recommend going with 33s.

Hey all,

My suggestion... don’t do it or do it and don’t wheel. See photos: My Sport S with rubicon suspension, 33x12 tires and in the photo .75” spacer in front (now 1.75” spacer due to sag from bumper). So you can see as I come out of this mud pit and there’s some flex, my rear tire barely clears the rear fender.

It’s been cold and I’ve been busy so I haven’t looked for a good place to flex but I will soon and will assess whether I want bumpstop extensions or what for now. Haven’t run with sway bar links disconnected either but I imagine it would get tight in the front.

I also want 35s next but my thinking is I will need to get new shocks and springs or a minimum some spacers - my preference is the former.

Another option you can look at is adding rubicon fenders or better yet, some of the good looking aftermarket ones available.

To update-
Sport S running 315/70r17 Duratracs on factory wheel NO spacer
2.5in TF spacer lift w/9550 shocks.

First pic is tires, no lift
Second is fully done.

At 315, tires run on control arms at full lock. Have to investigate steering stops.
Otherwise perfect ride.
Waiting on some non-crap weather days in PA above 35 degrees to try out options.

Do you think there will be any issues with 35x12.5? I'm on the fence with these wheels.
I believe, yes. So we’re talking an additional .5” width and 2” further up - here are some photos, full lock. Sorry for the weird angles but there seems to be plenty of clearnence where you’d expect to have issue (LCA, shocks/springs)

I haven’t done a ton of research, but I was planning on upgrading to 35s when these need replaced and was not planning on changing wheels
