just like the title says....let's see what y'all are are using to hoist/store your hard tops.

Homemade or store bought, lets see what you got!!
If homemade give a little bit of what you did and if you bought it post a link. Thanks

Thinking of making my own and have some ideas using PVC, pool noodles and some straps

Some hooks, ropes, pulleys, and a hand crank winch. I was able to hook a drill to the winch to make it go faster. Aside from the drill, total cost was probably under $100. Can go into more detail and provide a parts list if anyone is really interested. Raises up off the jeep to full height in a few seconds with the drill.

@So-Cal

Parts List:
-5x Steel Screw Hooks (Link) I want to say it was a #6 hook
-Rope - Amount depends on placement of your hooks. I think I was able to get away with 2 100ft rope, cut in half. (Link)
-4x Single Pulley This size or larger wheel will do.(Link)
-2x Double Pulley (Link)
-Hooks for roof (any rubber coated type of hook that you can tie a rope to will work, I used the bottom 4 in the 1st picture of these
-Winch (Link)
So this is kind of how I went to set it up.
I parked my jeep so that the roof was directly under where I wanted it to hang, for me this is normal parking and the easiest way so the roof basically just drops back onto the jeep. Unfortunately it didn't work out exactly that way after I upgraded the tires so I have to adjust the roof as it's coming down.
Once parked, screw in a hook above the rear corners of the roof, your best bet is directly in line with the back edge of the roof and slightly outside the side edges. This will allow you to be a little off in parking and if the back is in line, it won't pull the roof backwards off the jeep. Make sure they are in a beam of sorts, I used the ceiling joists but you can screw 2x4s or 2x6s that will span the floor joists if they don't line up right for you. You will also put two more of these hooks above the rear passenger doors for a 4 door. If you have a 2 door, best bet is to probably have them somewhere in the front. Each one of these hooks should have a single pulley on it

Next is winch location, for me it was on the passenger side of my jeep basically in line with the midpoint between the front and rear lift points of the roof. Where ever you decide, you'll want to put another one of the steel hooks directly above that on the ceiling, this one should have both double pulleys on it (you can use 4 single as well). Mount the winch to the wall directly below that hook. Mine is at waist height, will just be personal preference but the lower you go, the higher you will be able to lift the roof.

from here you just feed the ropes through the pulleys and tie a hook on one end, then tie the other end to the hook on the winch. When the roof is in the lowered position (ie. on the jeep) the winch hook should be close to touching the single hook that is above it. In the picture you can see where the one lift point is, the other is the rear window. You can use the bottom corner of the roof if you want.

Probably not the greatest explanation. It took me awhile to figure out. I started with hooks in the ceiling and ratchet straps to lift it. Let me know if you need any clarification or anything. Happy to help.

do you work for pro lift? 🤔
No, OP said homemade or store-bought.

Was getting RollnJack but waited too long to pull the trigger and they would not have new stock until late June. Didn't want to wait that long. Paid the higher price for Top-Lift.

I did the Home Depot special. 4 eye bolts drilled into the studs and 4 straps, each rated at 500lbs. About $50 worth.

Here I'm prepping for the lift

This is how it looks lifted off about 5 inches from the Jeep

This allows me to park the Jeep under the top in a single car space when I'm too lazy to put the top back up in inclement weather
