3.45 gears? If it came with 4.10s (or even better 4.88s), I would get this over the Rubi.
Current Willys comes with 32" tires and 3.45 gears.
Current Rubicon comes with 33" tires and 4.10 gears.

MY24 Willys comes with 33" tires and ??? gears.
I'm sure the best possible gas mileage comes into play here, but the stats point to 4.10s.

if its $50k id just get a rubi. unless those are going to start at $60k now...
Pricing is definitely going to be interesting. Of course they'll probably wait until near last minute to release pricing. 🙄

I'm pissed at how much better this is than my 2023 Willys, still on order. That is all.
This in a nutshell. I feel like I wasted money on my '23 Willys Sport. But still, an LSD with an aftermarket selectable front locker will get you through almost anything. But, in order to get there I have to install an onboard ARB single or dual compressor setup along with the differential work, which will have to wait until I install the lift, 35" tires, and regear. Why? Because who wants to pay a mechanic to open their differential twice when you can buy once and cry once? I guarantee that my aftermarket mods are going to come in higher than having a rear locker, a slight lift, and 33s from the factory, but only time will tell with that one.

I've posted this numerous times before in other threads but, for comparison, my 2021 JLU Willys costs exactly $6,000 less than an identically equipped 2023. So, I'm gonna ballpark it and say that the 4-door version of the Willys is probably going to be around $45K to start and easily could push close to $60K with a lot of options. Crazy. We'll see.

My friend has a '19 Willys. His rear differential recently went out and its getting warranty replaced. Well it is getting replaced when the dealer it is at, can actually get a replacement rear end to arrive and install in it.

I was very close to going with a Willys when I bought mine, this one would be a no brainer. Too bad they dropped the diesel, when the time comes for me to change vehicles I will probably be going elsewhere (assuming the Gladiator also loses the diesel).

Mine stickered for 56
Sure but that is not my point, the starting cost of the Willys is 42.6k today. Welcome to 50k starting price so maybe yours would be 66 now.

get a Torq mechanical front locker. no wiring or air compressor needed. zero issues. only $500 and you can install it yourself. thats what myself and a few friends are running. they work great. i have a stock lsd in the rear to pair with it. eventually ill change that to something else.

I don't know if it's been covered or not but is the Willies still going to have the same axle said I always does, and if so is it still going to have the same problems with 37s

Well, well, well. The 2024 Willys suddenly looks like a damn nice package.

Full disclosure: I’ve always been a Rubicon guy. I’ve owned four Jeeps, and three of them have been Rubis. However, with all the new features and the full float axles, the 2024 Rubicon looks like it’s going to be expensive indeed.

Enter the Willys. With the new rear locker, the Willys could be the Wrangler to get next time. The devil will, of course, be in the details. If Jeep has neutered the Willys in some other way then forget I wrote this. But I rarely use the front locker on my Rubi (I use the rear a lot). I love the e-disco, but I could make do with manual disconnects.

I’m also digging the new gray seats and dash on the Willys. Looks like it has become a really nice package.

They just need black lug nuts and I would buy one! Definitely nice. I tried to order a 2023 but trans woes in production so I settled on a manual 2 door Rubicon that just came available. I would order a 2024 2 door manual Willys but after the plant stopping the manuals, and Covid shutting down the plant in 2020 just after I ordered a 4 door, I’m sure the plant would just burn down if they saw Another custom order from me. 0 for 2 so far!

Lets just say I won't be trading in any time soon... There are a couple things I like about the '24, but what I don't like is pretty major for me.

Do:
  • Factory 33's
  • Premium soft top standard

Do not:
  • standard lockers - I wanted the LSD over a locker for various reasons. The two biggest being that living where I do I deal with a lot of snow on road, and second is that there just aren't that many rocks where I off road. It's complete overkill for my situation.
  • The screen (🤮) and technology updates - These are things that I couldn't care less about, and IMO are one of the biggest factors that have ballooned vehicle prices industry wide. When I ordered, a big draw of the Willys Sport to me was the lack of all the bells and whistles while having a couple nice upgrades to the offroad capability from the factory.
  • The grill - I went back and forth on this when I first saw it on the 20A, but after seeing it on the sample '24s today, it's just 100% not for me. Replacing the black outline on the bottom side with body color was also a disappointment for me. It was a unique difference of the willys vs. the satin black grill on other trims.
If I had to get a '24+ due to an insurance replacement or something, I still would. It's still better than the bronco after all. ;) But at this point I think I would probably go with a base sport optioned with the LSD... if it's still available as an option anyway, and build it up from there. I'd still have to deal with the screen and the grill, but at least the diff would be what I want.

Edit: Oh, I forgot the antenna integrated into the windshield... Hello $600 windshield replacement every year or two. The sheer stupidity of that decision is mind boggling.

I just bought a 2019 Sahara myself and am only missing the manual transmission for it to be perfect.

I would think long and hard about getting a new willy’s just for thecurtain airbags though…
You probably will realize you dodged a bullet with the manual in the end. The 8AT is amazing with the bonus that you get to avoid all the manual issues they're having. I love a good row your own gearbox but I just think the Wrangler unit is a poor transmission for the job.
