So got my Chrysler cable, obd2 blue tooth scanner today. Hooked it all up and used jscan to change stuff.

Worked great

Question is can I just leave that cable and obd2 scanner attached and tucked up under the dash? Or do I need to put it all back in?

I would put it back like factory for dealership visit of course

Well, you may have a guy or gal post here that, sure.... it is aok to keep the Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector, attached to the Security Gateway with the Bluetooth Scanner attached to it full-time..... but to do so is a real crap shoot so to speak.... SOoooo, don't do it!

If (and it can and does happen) the Bluetooth Scanner intermittently/inadvertently wakes up UConnect, you may/will come out to your JL , one morning, etc. and find the battery(s) depleted.. and you will be faced with a no start situation.

With that said.... Yes, It is aok to leave the Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector, attached to the SGW full-time..... but do not leave the Bluetooth Scanner attached to that cable unless you are using the Bluetooth Scanner.

YES, when you go to the stealership Service Dept. for anything(even an oil change), do remove the Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector and reconnect the 2 stock wires to the SGW. IF you do not do this and the Service Dept. Tech tries to use the WiTech ll to check something/to do an update the WiTech ll will fail to connect...

-----

To anyone else reading this post... that's wanting to use a Bluetooth Scanner with their JL/JT...
I suggest you forget buying a Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector like the guy in this post did...

Just but a $25 security bypass module. A nicer/cleaner/cooler, mouse trap so to speak.

This particular security bypass module works well with the JL/JT.
Connects at SGW and your Bluetooth Scanner gets plugged into the vehicle's OBDll port when you want to use the Bluetooth Scanner...

OH, also buy a SGW Bypass Extension cable from Zautomotive at $29 and you will not have to go through all the SGW, contortions each time your JL goes to the dealership Service Dept.

Curious.... what did you set-up with JSCAN?

Here are 3 that I use/like with my 2 dr. Rubi....

Fogs with High Beams:

ADAPTATION
---> Vehicle user settings --> Front Fog Lamp Dropout Enable On/Off --> Target Value = Deactivated

********************************

Turn Signals for DRL's

Maybe need:
ADAPTATION ---> DRL--> Day time running lights Configuration- Canada DRL

ADAPTATION
---> DRL - Day time running lights - settings --> DRL Lamp Location --> Turn Signal DRL

*********************************

Disable Weather Alerts:

ADAPTATION
---> Radio user settings --> SDAR Travel Link Feature Present On/Off--> Target Value = Deactivated

Change my dlrs from the low beams to the halos, foglights on with high beams. And some other things

But now I just tested my remote start won't work. Any idea?

No I just checked ess is still enabled. Maybe sits the cable still plugged in. I'll try again tomorrow to dark and cold out.

Was just tire fill stuff which I don't have.

Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector, attached to the SGW should not be why your Remote Start is not working... Even with SGW connectors unplugged, remote start will work...

Not sure ..... but maybe if you left the Bluetooth Scanner plugged in that may be why remote start is a no go... Try with the Bluetooth Scanner unplugged and leave the Cable Adaptor for Chrysler 12+8 Programming Cable Connector, attached to the SGW .

Everything else is working. I did a scan and no codes. I've read it has to do with the ess setting. Who knows maybe it will work in the morning lol.

@Rescue119

You probably have disabled the hood ajar plunger with JSCAN. Doing that disables Remote Start...

Read below... you need to go into JSCAN and enable that setting... the one that probably is set to disabled.... that is knocking out your Remote Start.

IF you ever have JSCAN related questions and concerns that you cannot find the ansers to here, you can communicate with representatives from JSCAN on their Facebook page.

You can Facebook Message them.....

https://www.facebook.com/obdjscan/

They are pretty responsive... their English is a bit lacking but what they do usually is...... walk you through your JSCAN related issue by sending you a custom video of them walking you through the JSCAN procedure you are trying to accomplish...

Oh, they are in a different time zone .... another part of the World so you may wait a few hours for a response from them.

The only.thing I have left to do really is change out the fender halogen lights to leds. Besides that the jscan has done its job.
