May I ask what is the LCA ? Long control arm ?
When and why is it needed ? I’m a bit new to “lift” kits. But not to suspension upgrades

The "Mopar LCAs" you will often read about are a factory Mopar front LCA that is 1/4" longer than what your Jeep came with. They run around $65/pair (I got mine from Rock Auto). Nice upgrade and may help with your Jeep's alignment, especially if lifted a small amount (think 2" or less).

The Jeeps with the "XR" package (which I have) came with a factory 1.5" lift, and I later added a 1/2" spacer lift all around. The XR package did not come with the longer LCAs. I installed the Mopar LCAs before the spacer lift.

Million dollar question - can I tell a difference with the longer LCAs? No. I figure if I got an alignment done before and after the numbers would be better, but I thought it drove nice before I swapped them out. I figured "Can't hurt, might help, and doesn't cost much".

Thank you Sir and for not being sarcastic with your reply. I come from Drag racing background. This is my first lift / suspension mod start So some terms are a bit different than what I’m used to!
Now with that said. The Spacer lift you mentioned, Is that a body lift spacer ?
At this time the only “lift” I’ve installed is a Teraflex leveling kit. It’s been a nice ride. No difference in my daily driving. Looks just a touch higher (22 Sahara altitude diesel ) I’ve been doing a ton of research as to what will be a good lift for my driving style and once in a blue moon overloading and trails

AEV spacer lift. ($460~)
Mopar 2” lift
Or a AEV 2.5” lift

I’ve also installed fox 2.0 ATS damper
JKS track bar and Synergy sector brace
And last week Hellwig rear sway bar
And I love how it handles and drivers

DoI need/should also replace the front LCA’s ? Will I need to go longer LCA’s If I do a 2” or 2.5” ?

You're welcome.

It was a Terraflex 0.5" spring spacer lift all around.

You asked. Do you need to put in a pair of Mopar LCAs? No. Should you? I would. They're not expensive (~$70/pair), pretty easy to install, and can't hurt/might help.

A Mopar lift I believe comes with the Mopar LCAs as part of the kit.

Dynatrac also makes a well regarded 2" lift kit.

I might add that if you put in the Mopar 2" lift I believe it comes with the longer LCAs.

If you go with a 2-1/2" AEV lift (Dualsport) it will come with front control arm geometry correction brackets that both restore the control arm angles but also have a cam plate to essentially extend the LCAs, negating the need for purchasing extended or adjustable ones.

I'm surprised you've never heard the term LCA. Almost every vehicle made has a lower control arm and it's usually called a lower control arm.

I'm not saying that out of judgement, just surprise.

we all just called it control arms front and rear , and in the shop as well, when i order parts, i always call it front or rear control arms, or on MBZ or BMW , they have various terms, the term LCA flew right over my head ,,,,

It stands for Life-Cycle Assessment. If you want to extend your life-cycle get adjustable LCAs. If you want to strengthen your life-cycle get HD LCAs.

I mean if youre working on bmws that makes sense since they dont have an upper and lower control arm in the front and instead use a mcpherson strut in the front, but the rear has upper and lower control arms, and unless ya'll were just calling the upper a camber arm or something.
