Has anyone heard an explanation of why the same auto transmission is $2k more with the 3.6 engine, when they aren't allowing 2.0 orders rn?

The conventional wisdom on the forum is that FCA, and now Stellantis, uses automatic transmission pricing to incentivize the consumer to purchase the powertrain that Corporate prefers that they do. Said differently, it seems to be a point-in-time exercise for them.

E.g., the option price of the 850RE in my JLU has, since late 2020, shifted between $1,500.00 and $4,500.00, depending on the engine with which the buyer wanted to pair the transmission (the Pentastar usually making the auto trans. a more costly add-on than the 2.0T, exactly as you mention.)

Thanks for the context. Imo, Stellantis needs to review its logic. It seems a little dumb to incentivize buyers to a 2.0T which can't be ordered.

They have not.

I think Jeep has sort of given up on the 2024s at this point. Expect a realignment in 2025.

I've been informed that Jeep is no longer taking Early gray color orders for 2024. Does anyone know if this is likely to be re-activated or am I shit out of luck? There are a few in my area still available, but my preference is to go through Mark Dodge to save cash. No local dealer here will touch Mark Dodge prices.

That's nothing that we can really prognosticate about.

E.g., Tuscadero. It was originally available for ~3 months, after which it was abruptly withdrawn...only for it to recently reappear sans advance notice. Stellantis is going to play its hand as it wants to.

I've been hoping that Ocean Blue would become available again. Four model years later, I'm still waiting. Best to pick your #2 choice and go from there.

Am I understanding correctly that the only way to order a 2.0 Rubicon with 35's is to get the X package? I really don't want the X package. I like the black plastic roof and fenders better with a red jeep.

Nope, I just saw on at a dealer. Non X model 2D with 35 pkg. I then searched the Jeep inventory and there are 13 in the US spec'ed that way. 2D 2.0 engine, 35 pkg, black fenders and top. They do have the Full–Time 4WD System which was surprising.
