The Pull-Pal is a great tool, have used one for many years. Snow, sand, mud, dirt, it works great when you have nothing else to anchor to.

They'll pull right through really soft snow, until they get down and anchor to something substantial.

One tip is to tie a rope on the back end of it, so you can easily pull it back up and out once you are done with your recovery.

This is the one I use:

Any good solutions for mounting it to the outside of a vehicle? Thanks for the input.

I watched a canceled series on Prime about an off-road race through Alaska. Sounds interesting right!? It’s a good watch. Anyway, that land anchor didn’t impress.
I don't know a ton about them, but find this pretty impressive!

I know you mentioned that a couple times. How do you expect to be "anchored" without digging? You could tie off to something that sits on top of the snow, but I don't think that would be much of an anchor.
The anchor digs itself into the snow... at least that's my understanding and what I've seen in videos.

It does, if you buy a pull-pal, but I thought you were looking at other options. I misunderstood. I think you need to buy a pull-pal.

lol. There’s snow in the tire chains from the vehicle assisting, then there suddenly isn’t. Suspect editing…

Anyway, that anchor was inches from rock and gravel. They’re heavy and not much surface area. You’re gonna need to hit a rock. That or gravel and assist with the vehicle.

That design is common like the one in that show I mentioned. It didn’t dig into anything in a few feet of mud bog/super soft tundra.

Like @RocknJL mentioned above, they have their Fast Track Mount, that's what I had on my 4Runner and my JK.

They work great. Love mine.

Just be sure to tie a rope around it down by the spade. It is way easier to pull out backwards than up and out.
