Turkey Day is 11/23...
They can still run ads on TG. What a better way to reach mostly everyone on the biggest TV day.

Run ads with what though?

“We can’t reveal the new Wrangler... but there will be a new Wrangler.. revealed at an auto show a week from today that none of you will know about, long after you will all have forgotten.”

An impactful ad would have the new JL in it, those hype ads don’t work except as a build up to a big launch day like Thanksgiving or the SuperBowl or the World Series, etc.
LAAS means nothing to most of the population.

It’ll be interesting to see the sales in that period when there are 50,000 Wranglers a month being pumped out and no meaningful marketing.

Just a little sneak peeks like the Mustang did to keep us even more in suspense

What's about the dirt test track set up. Is that for a reveal? or maybe a commercial ? Why build that when there lots of places to do a shoot?

The Mustang reveals were long before they went on sale or started production and had the SuperBowl, Final4 and NBA playoffs to build up hype slowly or fast however they wanted to play it.

The JL is revealed well after both of those actions, and has no big marketing events until 4 months later, right in the middle of the worst buying period for vehicles.

It’s a feel good thing, but like a test track behind the Camaro, Corvette or Mustang plant, very limited scope, local in reach, and aimed at enthusiasts who are already highly interested in the product.

The additional benefit of the local dirt track is for giving media a place to play... but even then the impact is less than having the media test the product in the wild.

When I was on Vancouver Island this summer slinging the JKU around the tight winding curves of the costal roads, I saw about two dozen Porsche Panameras going the other way in about an hour period... immediately I thought ‘Press Day’, sure enough a lot of the New Panamera reviews all cited the drive on Vancouver Island. Which is a perfect setting with natural beauty, and nice twisty roads for testers to give it the gears.

Similarly epic settings for a JLU reviewer make more sense than an Urban Blight , low difficulty dirt track in view of the plant.
It is perfect for an employee launch day/week set of events, especially now that it’s all Wranglers there, and not Compasses, etc. But it doesn’t make up for big event/settings either for the public or the media.

They could/should run ads hyping the reveal and extolling the benefits of the new generation of Wrangler. Tell the tale of the history, and hint (not so subtly) about the direction it's going. Lots of terrain views, and Wilson-esce views of the JL doing what JLs do. Create interest...

TV Ads? What ads? I can't ever remember seeing any TV spots specifically for Wrangler.

In all honesty, the mass audience probably can't even distinguish a JL from a JK. To them it just looks like another Jeep. Is buying costly TV spots money well spent by FCA? If anything, maybe they play up all the new safety tech to impress soccer moms.

If vehicles won't be on lots until Feb/March, maybe they don't want to start advertising this early.

The new 2018 Accords have just started to arrive on dealer lots, and I have yet to see a TV spot for it. On the other hand, Toyota is running new Camry ads like crazy.

Yea Im really surprised they are trying to keep everything so quite. Its not like Ford and others are going to get a big jump on changes to the Bronco because they start teasing info about it over the next 30 days.

So use the ~60million viewers (last year 27+35) for the hint, rather than a reveal?

That would be like this;

A NEW JEEP Coming.. Details to follow..

.
.
Chevy Colorado
BMW X3
Jeep Compass
Honda Civic Type R
Mistubishi Outlander
New Jeep Wrangler JL
Audi Q7
Nissan Titan
Ford F-150
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Toyota Tacoma
Jeep Renegade
Subaru Outback
Volvo XC90
Jeep Cherokee
Hyundai Santa Fe
.
.

Wasting your most powerful message on a ‘details coming soon’ instead of the ‘This is IT, Available Now !’.

So that way the important message gets lost among all the other noise.
