Here is a photo dump of the HELLA YELLA JL Rubicon with regular soft top revealed at the LA Auto Show.

Jeep reps at the LA Auto Show told us to expect Hella Yella to be available starting March 2018 (see our full FAQ from the show).

Looks like baja yellow in the lights. Shaded looks like dozer.

Which does it look like in person?

Yeah the colour changes from Baja in photos 1 & 3 to Dozer-ish in 2 & 4. I kinda like that as I’ve had both.. simultaneously, and now can do so in one JL. :like:

It looks like the Plastic dash insert isn’t necessarily “body coloured” as the designer interior video mentioned. But with the other Rubicon red accents, it looks good IMO, and makes it easy to add some white for my Canadian touches.

Rear seats unfortunately still don’t lay flat, slight tilt at the front.
OK if sleeping on them, but not great for unbalanced or stacked loads, etc.

In the video I think he said the red dash was anodized and in close ups it looks like it might be. Hope it is not just a big piece of cheap plastic.

JAY: thanks for all the details Pics!

Looks great Jay!

Was it mentioned that there is only one soft top material available now, no more standard and premium? What’s the soft top material on the JL like?

Also looks like the rear axle retains the same Ring Gear size in the new Design as 226mm is 8.9in and the current D44 size. So slightly bigger than the aforementioned 220mm and also negates about 5 pages of discussion about the issue.... Hmmm..... :movember:

Still annoyed that they are putting the Dana 44 name on a 12-bolt axle instead of calling it something new like the Dana 48.

Note the 226 number stamped in the middle of the cover... above the Rev 0.

Also, still hate the mesh door pockets, but at least now they are bigger, big enough to hold a folded waterproof map on it’s side, instead of sticking out like a peacock’s tail to catch on everything and fall out.

Are we sure that's Nacho? Mark Allen called it Hella Yellow here...
*sidenote* That soft top roof operation is awesome.
Good catch. I went back and asked it is indeed a yet unannounced color "Hella Yella" -- coming in March 2018 I'm told.

Still no sign of Nacho...

Hope they don’t have issues with it like they did with Dozer and that paint recall/pay-out.

Call me picky, but the red dash and accents stick out like a sore thumb to my eye. Matching yellow, silver, or white would do it better justice, IMHO.
Hopefully eventually there will be some felxibility in the configuration.

But at the very least there will be the aftermarket to the rescue. Too much colour-match can be overwhelming, likely we’ll be able to swap them out or cover them up, like with the JK accent pieces now.

Yeah I agree about the dash. Everything was looking so good until I came across those shots of the red dash contrasting the hella out the yella.
