Did you change springs? If not, did you check your springs at full droop? 3" is probably too much droop to add to stock springs. Did you add bump stops to protect the longer shocks at full compression? Expensive shock to not have proper bump stops.
Good questions and to ease your concerns, my EVO Stage 3 lift is arriving "EoD Tuesday" according to Fedex. I won't be off-roading again until the lift is on.

That said according to King specifications, these shocks are intended for 0"-2" lift, so assuming they know what they are doing, there is no problem using these on a stock suspension with regards to bottoming out.

The springs were still under compression with the shocks at full extension so I don't foresee any issues there either. At least as long as the sway bar is connected.

Have you had a chance to play with settings on shocks?

Good to know... I'm a little surprised that they are 3" longer extended as a 0-2" shock and more surprised that the springs are still tight. The stock JL already flexes about the same as a JK with a 2.5" lift, that would put it up with a long travel 2.5 with nothing more than a shock change. If the springs are tight at full axle droop, the sway bar wont matter at all.

Looking forward to hearing more about your mileage on the Kings. I had a pair of OEM style Kings on my last truck and they were EVERY bit worth the money. Kings fit and finish is top notch along with the performance.

Congrats and love that you didn't cheap out!

In my opinion, if your going to drop the bucks this is where you drop them.

I don’t understand why the 3.5” evo kit come with shocks that are only good for 2” of lift?? I called King, and they agreed, gave me the right part numbers for shocks that are good from 3-5”.

How are these so much better and worth the price then say the Falcon shocks?

From my limited knowledge of off reading and desert stuff. We will never need a reservoir because those are great for SUSTAINED high speed off roading for like miles and lots of miles.

Also I understand these as well as the Falcon’s will be set up for the particular JL. Unlike the 5100’s that are off the shelf and can be used on a wide range of vehicles with a huge weight difference so I understand that.

But other than the cool factor you will be able to buy and re-build multiple sets of Falcons for the same price.

Can anyone chime in on a long term review of the King Shocks? Placing my order for the Evo stage 4 this week and unsure about going with the Evo tuned king shocks or go with the falcon 3.3

King shocks no matter the application are going to work like a top tier shock should. Depending on your driving, they will easily last 40,000-60,000 miles here in California where we have no salty roads. They are serviceable by just about every 4 wheel shop in the country, and the parts are easily available to repair them if necesssary. Evo actually works directly with King to get a specific valving for their kits, not just a standard JL valve.

Falcons are great shocks, but in comparison are a quarter inch smaller in diameter, and are valved wonderfully, but are not valved FOR that kit like the Evo Kings are. They are also serviceable, but we havent confirmed the cost or local ability to do the work.

How are these shocks doing now? Still happy with them? Long term review? I’ve been shopping for an oem shock for my Rubi (no lift) with the stock springs and these have caught my attention. Any more info on them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Damn those look good. How’s the ride? Noticeable?
Heck yes. Definitely noticeable. I also did a stage 4 lift at the same time so there was a combination of changes.
