The video is very good and does/will give you a very good idea what is involved in regard to the disassembly of the stock fob.
It's actually quite funny since the one step I'm mentioning is spliced in the video and you never see exactly how he pulls it out.

To all....

About your stock fob... after you dis-assemble the stock fob, save ALL parts that you don't move to the DI Labs fob in a zip lock bag.

Should your fob ever chitt the bed... button(s) stop working ... it stops working like any fob can do, you will need to move the guts back into the stock fob so you can take the stock fob back to the dealer for warranty replacement..

Obviously, do not tell the dealer that you had temporarily moved the guts to an aftermarket fob, yada yada... He won't know unless you tell him...

I have the DI Labs , Model S...

Did exactly what I wanted, smaller size in my pocket, and stupid key doesn't flip out. I'm living on the edge for now and don't even carry the key.
@mygreenkaw

I don't carry a key on my person either. I have a cut blank stashed on the outside of the JL just in case and another cut key inside stashed, should I ever (rarely) want to lock the glove box or center console.
Obviously, my JL has proximity....

Key stashed inside...

Its pretty funny that some don’t like the size of the stock FOB and yes it’s somewhat large and could have been made smaller but we complain about a fob this size but think nothing of other things we carry that are larger.

I carry my stock FOB with no key ring with keys, not even a house key (never have) and all I have is a front pocket wallet with a small pocket knife and that’s it no change or anything else and I don’t have proximity entry.

But then lots don’t think a thing about carrying a phablet

I will say it’s all about personal choice that’s what makes us all different but if a maker wants to really do us a solid make a app so we don’t have to carry anything, now that would be Grand ??

@AnebuR

DI Labs just recently started offering these fobs.... In my opinion they are selling for very little $. Not much room for a discount. Anyway, no discounts of any kind offered at checkout.

For the record, other then being a tester of the DI Labs, I have no relationship with them. I'm just a real pleased user of the DI Labs fobs that is talking about a product that other's here would truly appreciate.

@AnebuR

You will really like the Model M. So small and really light....

Your M will arrive in less then 2 weeks... It ships with a black screw and a real nice Torx driver.

Will come via US Mail and DI Labs lets you know the day it ships and you have a tracking #.

Do consider dis-assembling one of your stock fobs (if not being used daily) during the next couple of days. Dis-assemble / get loose the RFID chip and place all in a ziplock bag. This way on new fob delivery day you can just do the easy easy assembly of the Model M. I'd also buy/use a fresh CR2450 lithium battery.

Oh.... when you assemble the DI Labs fob, don't over tighten the black screw.

Have you guys heard of AJT Designs? I've had a few friends use their products on JKs for keys and vent surrounds. I don't know how they compare in size to the one OP posted, but from images looks about the same and maybe a hair longer. From what I've seen from friends, AJT is a quality product.

Do any of you that have switched fobs have the passive entry thing or whatever its called. Keyless entry I guess? I really want a smaller fob, but IIRC I read on an old thread that the keyless entry feature made swapping fob shells much more difficult.

Edit: @N8213 I'll give you $30 for the titanium fob. $35 if you have to hand-whittle the titanium.
I've got access to a whole mess of metal 3d printers - could print these in aluminum, titanium, inconel, etc. I need a cad file to start with though.
