Anyone know if the fob fits into a hitch safe? Seems like a tight fit straight into the hitch but the proximity sensors do not recognize it in that location and could be left with the jeep while off in the wilds.

You will need to put the Fob in a Faraday bag or that idea would be a no go.

You can have an unchipped key cut. You leave unchipped key hidden outside and the fob is placed inside a Faraday bag that you hide in the JL.

Get these girder plugs. get string, tie to plug to one end and the fob on the other end of string(strong string). Leave key in girder cavity. Or just keep the key on you??

one less thing to worry about falling out of pocket while mountain biking or hiking.
Of course the key fob will fit!! Its not that big.
If it can fit a credit card, the fob will def fit..I guarantee it!!

Why not just carry the fob with you?
@jimmyzwheelz

A lot of guys/gals are swimmers, divers, bicyclists skydivers, joggers/runners, nudists,have etc... Such active people prefer not to or can't carry a Fob.

Indeed, the fob will fit but you will need to have the fob in a Faraday Bag... or wrap in up in tin foil before you place it in the Hitch Safe. Yes, fob in a Faraday Bag will fit in the Hitch Safe.

For my JK I would safety pin the key to the inside of my swimsuit pocket for surfing. Recently, for mountain biking I just put keys in my camelback zip pocket. The hitch safe wouldn't work for me when mountain biking because the bike rack is in the hitch, but I like the hitch safe idea for surfing.

Alternatively, disable proximity entry in unconnect before leaving they key in the hitch.

That hitch safe looks a little cheesy to me, and I'd be worried about getting my stuff locked in there. I'll probably find a magnetic box to hide somewhere non-obvious on the frame personally. In my TJ I would put my keys in the airbox under the hood.

@InvertedLogic

I myself would no way recommend the Hitch Safe.
I was just saying you'd need to use a Faraday Bag if you planned to put your fob in one or at that matter, if you planned to hide the fob anywhere on the JL.

As for me, I have an unchipped key hidden in a you'd never find it location...

I have a working fob in a Faraday Bag stashed in the JL.

I can enter the JL with the unchipped key and quickly get to the fob when the driver's side door opens.
