Two months in and key fob is dead. Hopefully it’s just a battery. Anyone else experience this?

Are you able to start your Jeep? Will it start if you use the fob to press the start button? That’s what the owner’s manual recommends.

I was wondering if you are able to start your jeep with the fob battery removed using this method.

What would really suck is not being able to discover this if your jeep won't turn on, thanks to not being given a printed manual.....

Even worse is if you print out the relevant page , and then don't read it , and then lose the key fob .

I've had to do the press the button with the FOB thing twice in the last two weeks...got my JL 2 weeks ago. I've not had it stop working completely though. This issue was only for starting the engine, door locks seemed to be fine.

Yes, this is how I’m able to start it. Assuming it’s a dead battery but taking the Jeep to the dealer for them to replace the mismatched fender (hopefully) soon and will have them take care of the fob too.

I noticed a small red LED light on the fob, its actually quite bright. If its glowing when you press a button. The battery probably has not failed.
Everyone grab your remote and see how bright it is now, so when it gets dim or goes out you will recognize it.
I have a 3 volt tester with light med heavy load tests. I replace them one a year in other fobs, just for drill.

Someone posted a youtube video where the guy starts his JL using this method after he removed the battery from the fob.
