I thought I read somewhere that if you install Katzkin leather in the new JL, you lose the center arm rest/cupholder in the 2nd row. Is that true?

Well not in the way you have worded it. You only get the center arm rest / cup holder when you order the leather package from the factory. If you order the leather package and then replace it with Katzkin you would not lose those things.

If you order cloth from the factory you do not get the arm rest / cup holder. So installing Katzkin on a Jeep with cloth seats does not lose it as you never had it in the first place.

Pardon my ignorance, but the cup holder is only in the head rest. Does the center not fold down without the leather option. Could you just buy the headrest with the cup holders in it?

If your JL comes without leather you do not have a armrest with cup holder. If you have factory leather then you do. Here is my backseat

Just picked up our fully optioned Sport S. Has the Katzkin leather interior with mojito green stitching and perforated center. Love the look and feel. Notice the Jeep logo used on the backs. I assume the dealer is allowed to get by with that.
