Hi Scott, I just recently had a custom install of Katzkin to my own specifications and the only portion of the back section of the rear seat that is covered in leather is about 2 inches or so on each end as you are looking at it from the tailgate. This is from top to bottom down the sides. I can take a picture if you would like.

Thanks, Brian. That explanation is perfect. No picture necessary unless you just want to. Your description is perfect for what I needed. Thanks so very much!

Got my Katzkin installed. I chose mahogany with a coffee wrap to contrast with all the black and gray on my Sting-gray JL. The material is top-notch and I’m very happy with it. My only complaint is that my factory seat heater isn’t as warm as it was with the cloth seats. Assuming this is due to the thickness of the leather. There are a few wrinkles but supposedly will tighten up with some sunshine, which may be months away, lol.

Very nice. I too noticed a significant difference in the time it takes the seat to warm up now. I think you are right that it just needs to get through the leather. Still love my Katzkin configuration, which is a similar layout to yours but different colors (as I have a Mojito!). And yes, I was assured the leather will tighten over time.

They look so nice. I'm thinking of getting Katzkin also, but I keep hearing how hot they get in the summer with the top off, but they look so nice.

Could you take a picture of the back of the seats? I'd like to see what they look like.

Thank You

Good to hear I’m not crazy imagining the heat difference. Not a huge deal but noticeable. The material is very nice. Better than I expected from the samples.

That’s one reason I didn’t want to do black (the heat). Here are a few pics. Ignore the dog hair

I'd be getting Black & Red. I want to get leather to help with the dog hair :)

That carpet is like a dog hair magnet.

The black/red mix was my next choice. Someone else on here posted theirs and it looks outstanding.

Quick question. Did your cloth order Sahara come with the upgraded leather/vinyl center arm rest/door panels/etc.? I am doing a gray Katzkin install to match close to the Sting Gray color and was debating about matching the arm rest and door panels.

Also, how does the gray dash look with the Sting Gray? Was toying around with potentially having it paint matched to the exterior or replaced with the leather dash if it clashed.

Hi @heels19. No, it supposedly didn’t come with the upgraded arm rest, panels, etc., but the material seems pretty nice. I don’t remember what a leather version looks like to compare, though. The gray dash looks okay to me. I would like the leather version. I’ll take a picture and see if it captures well.

@heels19

Here are some pics. The dash is sort of a metallic silver. It’s really pretty nice color but is a contrast to Sting-gray for sure. One thing I’m disappointed in not having is the grab bar with the Wrangler logo. I figure that can be bought at some point.

Thanks a ton for sending. I actually think that is considered the upgraded vinyl/leather for the rest of the interior trim. The contrast stitch is the easy tell from what I've been told.

Mopar is selling the leather dash, two parts, if you're interested in swapping them out. I will likely either go that route or paint match the existing dash (cheaper alternative).

I haven't seen a good aftermarket dash grab handle quite yet. Like you, would prefer the one with the Wrangler detailing - it's crazy that FCA thinks the plain one is considered the upgrade.

BTW, nice seats! I'm likely going single tone gray with the perforated seats for bucket and back.

Awesome! Can’t wait to see how yours turns out.

I did see in a thread about those leather dash pieces. A bit pricey but a nice, easy option.

Good luck with your choices!

Looks great! Very unique for sure. I have a brown seat on my Harley and I get tons of compliments.
