Have you looked into insurance issues there? Will your insurance cover you in Mexico? I wanna go to Baja California too. Would be really nice. But worried about safety and insurance issues.
Hey @Ratbert I asked our build guys and they gave me this:My '20 JLUR was recently totaled, so I've been trying to figure out what I'll replace it with. I'm considering buying one pre-built by AEV. Some advantages:
Yes, it's damn expensive, but I realized that I wouldn't be paying labor to have all of those things added over the years after purchase.
- Full package
- High quality
- Financed into original cost
- 3 year / 36k Warranty
- Covered by insurance(?)
- Love the way it looks
- Previous incremental upgrade attempts were "challenging" to justify with the wife and were constantly being pushed back to next year
My question: how much would labor cost (wild ballpark) to install the following on a new JLUR diesel?
Note that I'm talking over $15k in upgrades. Just trying to figure out if I can use the lack of labor as an additional significant justification.
- Suspension
- 4.56 gears
- Skid plate
- Front and rear bumper
- Winch
- Tire carrier

I was skeptical when AEV used geometry correction brackets on the JK. Why not just go with longer control arms? However, over the years they have proven to be a good solution, to my genuine surprise. There is always much to learn, and gut feel isn’t always correct.Because it doesn't come with adjustable control arms but instead has geometry correction brackets? I had this lift on my JK for 5 years and 130k miles. Drove great on road and hit some gnarly trails without any issues.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Your builds are very compelling.Hey @Ratbert I asked our build guys and they gave me this:
Suspension 6-12 hrs
Gears 10-12 hrs
Full Belly Skid Plates 3-5 hrs
Front and Rear Bumpers 4-8 hours
Winch 1-2 hours
Tire Carrier 1-3 hours
It all depends on what brands you want (AEV being near the top end of the hours), but this should help you out! We also provide the build sheets for our vehicles so you can see how much we charged for the parts and the labor for the exact parts you are looking for.
If you were looking to buy a Diesel JLUR with all of these upgrades, we can get a decent discount off sticker price for you.
