First of all, thanks to all of you on the forum who have helped me figure out what I should order based on my wants and needs. I just placed an order at Prestige Jeep in Longmont, Colorado for the following:

  • Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
  • 3.6L V6 with Manual - I liked the 2.0T I drove, but I prefer driving a manual so the venerable Pentastar it is.
  • Firecracker Red - This was to appease the wife, and I do like it too.
  • 8.4" Radio and Premium Audio Group - This is really for the 8.4" screen.
  • Dual Top Group - This was a late decision based on the thread about regrettable order choices.
  • Body Color Fender Flares - I debated this a fair amount as well, but ultimately I like the look.
  • Cold Weather Group
  • LED Lighting Group
  • LT285/70R17C OWL Off-Road Tires
  • Remote Proximity Keyless Entry - Another decision based on the thread about regrets.
  • Steel Bumper Group - I really like the steel bumpers better than any aftermarket bumpers I've seen.
  • Trailer Tow and HD Electrical Group
  • Mopar All-Weather Floor Mats
  • Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats Black / Dark Saddle - I'm pretty indifferent on cloth vs. leather, but the wife likes leather and the silver dash. The red Rubicon dash really clashes with Firecracker red.

It'll look just like this but without the rear sensors on the bumper:

I ended up getting 6% off of invoice (11.4% off of MSRP) from the dealership up the street from me. I could have probably gotten closer to 7% but would have had to drive a bit to get it. I also got a very fair offer on my 2016 Willys 2 door, but will likely shop that around before I actually trade it in.

One frustrating thing is that some of the prices on the Jeep site are now wrong. The actual MSRP for the following are:

8.4" Radio and Premium Audio Group $1,695
LED Lighting Group $1,045
Steel Bumper Group $1,395
Mopar All-Weather Floor Mats $165

Oddly, adding the $30 Mopar Cargo Tub Liner necessitated adding door sills so I dropped that from my order.

Now the waiting begins!

Congratulations Aaron, I have nearly your exact order. I picked up mine on September 13th and couldn’t be happier with her so far. I ordered it on July 17th and it was delivered to the dealer right at 7 weeks. I think you will be so happy with the Firecracker Red when you go to pick it up. I was hesitant at first when I ordered it, but glad I did. I have the black leather interior, and I can post more pictures if you wish to see it. Also I bought the mopar grill guard for the front steel bumper at the dealership which is now installed but not shown in these photos.

I for one think you made a great choice!! Two thumbs up! :like::like:

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the pics and story. I’m surprised we don’t see more Firecracker Red JLs as they look so great in this color.

That's one of the color schemes that my wife and I are looking at. Do you have any interior shots we haven't seen the new saddle brown leather yet.

The best I could find is this Gladiator:

No saddle brown, but here's some pics of the black stitched leather on my Firecracker Red. I also didn’t think I would be crazy about the mandatory Red dash on the Rubicon, however I’ve gotten tons of compliments from friends and family members and now I even like it. When you look at the dash next to the red door pillars in person it actually looks pretty good. It doesn’t really seem to clash too bad.

So back in 2001 I bought a basic jeep with a 4cl 2.1L engine and it was like driving a box that couldn't go over 55 on the freeway. That being said I absolutely loved it. I had to trade it in when my girlfriend at the time (now wife of 17 years got pregnant). I have had the itch for a jeep ever since. Last month our internet went out for almost 16 hours so I said hey lets go look at the new Jeeps to kill some time. I ended up with this beautiful Rubicon. Keep in mind I'm a cheap SOB but I fell in love with this Rubicon the moment I saw it. I threw up a few times while signing the paperwork because I have never spent that kind of money on a vehicle before. I must say though it is so fun to drive. My daughter who is now 17 and reason I got rid of the first Jeep (sill love her though) is bugging me to drive it. I haven't let her yet but maybe someday. I am so impressed with the performance of this Jeep. I also love how customizable it is. I will be adding running boards and some lights to it in the future. I am so happy to be back in the Jeep family.

Nice JLUR. But man, you didn't need to get rid of that TJ. Least-ways I kept my CJ-7 and CJ-5 after getting married and having kids. Daily drivers and we drove all over and up/down the Rockies exploring in those Jeeps. But at least now you can make up for lost Jeep-time with that sweet JLUR.

I'm still mulling a JLU Sport, but because I'm also a cheap SOB, I break out in hives whenever running the numbers and seeing the final cost, lol.
