The new Jeep Gladiator MOJAVE comes with this silver front skid plate —see below.

I think it looks bitching, and would look great on my JL.

Does anyone know:
  1. Part number?
  2. Will it fit JL?
  3. Will it fit with the stock bumper? With the steel bumper? Looks like Mojave comes with the stock plastic bumpers...

Thanks in advance.

You're probably not going to get any answers until these have been out in the wild for a while, but unlike the skidplate that comes with the Steel Bumper Group that literally attaches to the bumper, this looks to have brackets that attach to the front of the frame rails.

I'm not sure about the newer JLs, but our 2018's definitely don't have those mounting holes. If those brackets are all that're required for fitment, I don't see why the necessary holes couldn't be drilled to make it work.

Thanks!

Yeah, unlike Wranglers, JT Mojave comes from the factory without skid plates. Which suggests this is more of an air dam than a skid plate.

Other “desert runners” have some sort of a tapered plate in front, which I believe is more intended to deflect flying sand and dirt, than it is to protect from heavy blows.

I saw Quadratec offers an aluminum front skid plate for JLs. It doesn’t look nearly as sexy, but looks more built to protect from impacts.

BTW, the brackets appear to be part of the skid plate.

Yeah, as much as I dig the OEM metal skidplate that comes with the steel bumper, I'd prefer them separated. If I'm gonna bang it up, I don't want it to damage the bumper. Naturally, the skidplate also bolts into welded nuts on the bottom of those dropped frame rail brackets, but almost all winch mounting plates for the JL move the bumper forward just enough that you can't use those holes anymore.

I eventually want go this same route, too, but I haven't seen any options I cared for until your post. Now I'm curious and want to see if it'll work. Of course, since it's Mopar, I have no doubt it's going to be ridiculously expensive.

I have not. It's not on my radar at the moment.

Without looking at the rest of the skidplate and how it's mounted, I can't confirm or deny. Based on the photos of it on the Gladiator, you'll at least need those side holes in the frame, but I don't know if they're present on the 2019 Wrangler (doubtful), what size they are, and what additional hardware may be necessary to attach it.

Thought I did update on the progress. Yes Mojave skid plate goes well on JL’s.
Brought from Tasca parts with 4 mounts (2 each side). Needed to drill but good news is that’s the hardest part. Which I did myself.

Took out the plate to paint to match my Jeep silver metallic as it comes in black by default.

Thank you for sharing.

I got the Mopar front skid plate for JL; it bolted right on without cutting or drilling.

Guys, I am thinking the same: put the Mojave skid plate on my Willys. The pic came from my 2020 Willys, and it looks like it doesn't have to drill the hole. Still, I am confusing about the bracket, hardware, bumper. First, Willys bumper is the same as the Sahara(plastic). I am wondering if it's fit well. I checked up the part website to find the bracket, and there are two pairs of the bracket with the same name but different part numbers. Do I need all of this? As for screws/bolts, I am not sure which kind of screw works on Mojave skid plate. I am opening any suggestion, thanks!

The following is the part number I found:

  • Front Skid Plate - Mopar (68409966AA)
  • Skid Plate Bracket, Right - Mopar (68356520AA)
  • Skid Plate Bracket, Left - Mopar (68356521AA)
  • Skid Plate Bracket, Right - Mopar (68353836AB)
  • Skid Plate Bracket, Left - Mopar (68353837AB)

I replaced the plastic bumper on my Sahara with a Mopar steel bumper and the Mopar steel skid plate. The plastic air dam does not fit the bottom of the steel bumper. The bottom of the two bumpers is shaped very different. My guess is if you plan to reuse the plastic bumper, you should be fine, given that that’s the bumper Mojave uses.

And yes, you need those brackets to hold the lower part of the skid plate. You will also need some special fasteners and nuts.

The guys at Quadratec were nice enough to give me the entire list of parts I needed.

As for the skid plate yes you would need all 4 brackets (2 inner brackets , 2 outer brackets).

As for the bolt and nuts, I just used M10 screws/nuts from Bunnings (hardware store). If you want to install as per Jeep, you need the rivet nuts. But for this rivets, you will need river gun. To avoid all this I just used normal bolt & screws (M10)

You would need the screws as well to attach the brackets (4) to the skip plate .

Attached below are the parts number including for the screws

That Mojave skid is the same as the skid on the front of a Rubicon JT with the plastic bumper, only painted silver. I thought the JL Rubicon skid with plastic bumper was the same, no?

Thanks for sharing. Just got one question: how did you put on the normal bolt & screws (M10) since we put on the bracket it will block the underneath... I am thinking of rivet nuts but I didn't order it from mopar. Are these rivet nuts come with special spec? or I may find a replacement from homdepot.
