hey fellas, I’m ordering my JLUR with cloth. Reason being the leather package has the center console which is a problem if I want to put a toddlers seat in the middle. I know most are pro-leather but I figured why not show some love and benefits of having the cloth..?

One question I have, do any of you guys get zapped when exiting? I always get zapped in every cloth vehicle, it’s like I’m electrically charged all the time!

Anyways post you reason for choosing cloth and the benefits. Some benefits I can think of are 1. They tend to be a better option for the direct sun as black leather will burn your bun. 2. You can always go katzkin later and have more color options. This should help a lot of guys decide.

Yup I went JLUR with cloth. Cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter. Katzkin always an option. Might have gone leather if they had ventilated seat option.

I didn't even realize there was a difference in the back seat until you said that but it doesn't really matter to me. I don't think the center seat will ever be used.

Do you ever get zapped? Or is the Rubicon cloth different

I ordered my '19 JLUR with cloth because I have leather now and other than being easy to wipe down I don't see the advantage. Leather gets cold or hot depending on season or location. I live in the North so I would have had to get the cold weather package, with cloth I saved about $2000. Plus, I can always get Katzkin if I change my mind.

I’m with you on this. The past 5 vehicles I’ve owned have had black ventilated leather seats. I’ve sat on leather on the trails for 12-16 hours and it sucks. I will never do leather unless it is ventilated. If Jeep offered the ventilated leather in the rubicon, I’d be all over it.

No issues with getting shocked.

I to have cloth and that’s what was available from dealer stock within my budget, katzkin is always an option later on but so far very pleased.

Within the very first few days I scotch guarded the seats and carpet and so far so good on no stains.

I live in Miami so I understand the heat can really cool up a black leather seat. And I too wish FCA would make a cooled seat option, not ventilated because that would just throw ambient air up your tush.

I have cloth seats on my Sport. I have yet to get zapped. I would always get zapped on my previous vehicle.

Cloth seats. Never been zapped in 6 months. Me or any passengers. Nor have we ever had "hot seat" syndrome. Its why I got cloth. Seats wipe off easily too. Even my Golden Retriever's hair doesn't seem to stick to it.

On a Separate note: One thing to know and its a problem on the JL as it was on the JK. Cloth and leather. The middle 2nd row seat has no support of any kind under it. Its just foam. So I bought one of these from MetalCloak.

That’s awesome, thank you! And good to hear you guys aren’t getting zapped, that annoys the heck out of me.

Yep I went cloth on my JLU for the reasons already stated. I also have an 11 JKU with cloth and have never been zapped in either. I bought a used 13 JKU with leather and absolutely hated it. I live in SoCal and it can get to 120+, that black leather was terrible.

I always select cloth when it is an option. I like a fabric that breathes.

I get zapped once in a great while. Usually only when it's been extremely dry. If it bothers you, rub a fabric sheet on your seat and call it a day.

This brings up an additional point. I've ordered cloth, for exactly the reasons discussed in this thread. The question is on scotch guard: is it really worth it with this material? A 90s cloth interior Honda, absolutely. But is it really necessary with this new cloth seat?

Honestly, probably gonna err on the side of caution and scotch guard the crap out of it. Just looking for thoughts/opinions.
