Do any other manual owners out there notice the third gear feeling very sluggish/ underpowered? If not, any other gears feel this way for you? I only have around 105 miles on it, so it is still pretty wet behind the ears- however any insights into why this could happen would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sweet spot for third gear is 35mph to 50mph. Don’t shift into 3rd under 35. Should notice a more responsive feel. These engines love the higher rev limit.

Appreciated, after some driving around with it that seems to certainly be the case. MPG be damned! :)

Yeah it's hard to retrain your brain. My 4.0 TJ and v8 Ram both like being shifted at 1500 rpm, but this JL doesn't even come to life till 3000 and has a very narrow peak power between 5500-6000 that's very hard to take advantage of because of the rev hang. I still love it and would never change for an auto but if someone would just release a tuner...

Regear that puppy!!
Put my rubi on 37s.
Regeared to 5.13 a couple months later.
Such an improvment, even over stock set-up

Agreed, it's the way to go. Even with stock tires these things need lower gears, such a high-revving engine with no power below 2,000rpm, drives me nuts.
(needs a hemi...haha)

You all are running manual transmissions or auto?

I went 4.88’s with 37’s. I never really drove my Jeep on stock tires as I put 35’s on it when it had 18 miles. The 4.88’s with 37’s is better than the 35’s on 4.10’s for sure.

It drives pretty good in my opinion. 6th gear is totally usable now. I haven’t driven 5.13’s but I can see how it would be pretty good as well.
