Just returned from the dealer to have the rear window defroster fixed. The dealership said FCA doesn't recommend a repair and they want to replace the back window. They have ordered a new window. Maybe it will arrive by fall.

I got a survey via email; completed it truthfully. Jeep Customer Care reached out to me and set up an appointment with my dealer for next week. Iā€™m being told they will work with and engineer through each step. Star Case...Iā€™ll keep you posted.

Ok, my schedule has been horrible, I did stop by Shahin to try and learn more about it, but I got the impression that they really don't know, so I'm trying to learn through this platform what the issue is. That way I can just go in and tell them what to order and or fix. I refuse to let them use my JL as a "let's tear it up and learn something" vehicle. Thanks for keeping me and others In the loop. I will as well. I my have more time this week, to look into it more.

Have you checked to see if the wire is plugged into the rear window?

Wonder if you can check voltage with a voltmeter at the rear connector.

How would you test the side view mirrors?

Could be as simple as a fuse or relay problem.

Also wondering if Jeep has to program it at the factory for the hardtop option and they forgot.
same problem on my 2018 JLUSport also alert on stop start function and my stability control

I'm still waiting for answers....... That programming suggestion is a good one. I've tried to test with a meter at the window connection, it tough because they are surrounded in rubber. I can't really make heads or tails of it. I'm off all week so I'll get back on this issue.

Latest Update: Jeep Care involved. Jeep at the dealer since last Wednesday. FCA expedited a control panel to fix the defrost/mirrors...didnā€™t fix it. So now, they have zero idea why either issue is there. Theyā€™ve now replaced the BCM and the hvac control panel. Neither work still...so they have them testing this ground and that ground. Basically grasping at straws with no idea whatsoever...BS!

How did they determine it needed a new window? Like what's wrong with it?

I posted in the thread earlier about the same problem. Been busy at work and it was 85 degrees out yesterday so haven't had a chance to get to the dealership nor thought much more about the issue, but need to get it in just so it is on record.Trying not to wait 8 months until its cold in Texas again and forget that the rear defroster doesn't work.

The electrical connection to the glazing failed. Rather than attempting a repair, they said they would order a new window.
