JLU to Golden Gloves National's

I'm part of the Wisconsin Golden Gloves organization. This week I drove my JLU 12 hours south to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We brought down the entire state boxing team for the National Tournament.

For weeks I worked on my baby to get it ready for this trip. I'm so glad I did too. The athletes love it! We're staying in a large cabin outside the city. There are Jeep trails all over the place as well as some very scenic parks and overlooks.

It's been fun seeing them try to get "shotgun" seat first when we head out. They especially love cranking the music and holding their phones out the open to take videos.

I've been enjoying taking our head coach up the mountains where we run the trails. If you're ever in Chattanooga be sure to cruise up Lookout Mountain. My Wrangler feels like it's soaring like a bird as it winds it's way up and down the serpentine road.

We're here for a week so I figured I'd begin a post to share some of our adventures.

We took an awesome little cruise through Prentice Cooper State Forest. Coach booked us a cabin along the river. A few weeks ago someone on this forum shared some photos of the nearby trails. I was very excited to christen my new JLU. Most of the Jeep trails are just dead ends with mud here and there. Halley Road though. That was fun! We didn't cross the stream due to having to get back to training. The team members who joined me had never off-roaded before. They really had fun. Trail rated indeed. I'm still modifying it and I had no problems with stock suspension and tires/wheels.

It's been a really fun week with the team. My JLU is a big hit with the boxers. A few of them now want Wranglers and they're always asking when we're going to be in the Jeep. During the day, between training and resting for bouts, we've taken them to various "touristy" locations. Each time they scramble to be one of the three who ride with me. Driving along with the Freedom Panels of they CRANK up the music and roll with it. I feel like one of the cool kids. Loving the Alpine. LOL

As for the boxing, if you're curious,O we're doing OK for a newly minted franchise. We've only 7 athletes. Two of them, though with us here, aren't competing due to injuries. One of those fine has advanced to the Finals tonight! Not too bad I think.

I especially have enjoyed driving the head coach around. We've been driving up and down Lookout Mountain nearly every day to jog trails. I really like how the Jeep handles the switch back road. I'm so glad I ordered it with the manual transmission! That's not sarcasm.

So to end this. We fielded five boxers. One made it to be the National Champion. Here's a few sneak peek cell phone shots of my workstation. It's the first time in over 12 years since Wisconsin has won.

Thank goodness I got last minute clearance toget onto the apron at the last minute! The cool thing is, the just offered it up without me asking! I knew I took THE please I needed.

After a long drive home, in which I became very fine tuned in driving a manual transmission in Cruise Control I might add, I found my custom side panel logos had arrived. I can't think of a more fitting way to celebrate than putting these on either door.
