On my 2 door 2020 Rubicon with stock wheels ad no lift installed BFG KO'2s 285/75/17's that are 33.9" tall but as wide as the stock tire. Added about .6" inch in height and no rubbing.
I use the Jeep in Northern MI so a tall narrow tire is what I wanted for deep snow and wet roads. Used the Jeep in deep sand, mud and trails and very happy with the tires.

Ok I have read many many posts until I am blue in the face. Please confirm that I can run a BGF 35" 12.5" tire on the factory Rubicon rims with NO lift and attain no rubbing? If rubbing does occur, where? inner fender? or somewhere else?

I have been shopping rims/wheels forever, but really am perfectly happy in keeping my factory wheels if all possible,

Oh, and I am a fan of Discount Tire, are you saying they won't install them? Where do you go then to get them mounted/installed? Or is it a crapshoot at Discount?

Thank you all very much!
Ive had 35x12.5 mounted on a 17x7.5 wheel on my current and last Jeep and drove/wheeled well over 60,000 miles with no issues. Some tire shops will refuse to do it, most mom and pop places will do it with no concerns. It’s a poor mans beadlock and off-road guys have been doing it for years.

Love how it looks with 35's. Drives great with the torque of the 3.0 Diesel. Haven't been off-road with it since I got the larger tires but I think it will rub at full flex.
Hello, i was looking at the same wheel and tire setup. Can you please show how much the wheels stick out from under the fenders?

Stock 285/70r17’s stuffed, but not turned. The first photo is the rear fender, the second is the front. So either way I think you’ll catch the inner liners with 35’s on stock rims. I may have been able to climb more, I still had solid contact with 4 tires. If your tires are any wider, or pushed out more, I think even the stock 33’s can catch the lip of the rear fender liner. This was on a rock, not a forklift. I think that’s a bit more realistic.

so blue in the face I am dead. Guys/Gals I was all set to go do 35x12.50 on stock rim. The consensus is they fit without an issue on the Rubicon. Then I waited, and this site and others people were like "They won't work" including the post right before this one. I figured if they don't work, rims could just be purchased. But then the slippery slope hits, and I am trying to prevent that (to stay married).

So I am back with one more question. Nitto tires. They make a 35"x11.5"x17 tire. Will mount down to a 7" wheel, so I know tire stores will install it. How would that be for a compromise? Get the little extra height (real world is 34.75), but should help avoid suspension parts right? Avoid wheel stick out, etc.

Thoughts?

I am loving Nitto’s 35x11.5 r17 Trail Grappler on a non-lifted Rubicon with stock wheels. Do it!

Anyone with a 2.0 turbo rubicon running 20 inch rims on 35x12.5 ? Does having larger wheels cause significantly more engine strain on the 2.0 then running 18 inch rims on same tire size? It seems the tire and wheel weight between both sizes is only a couple of pounds, depending on the setup. thanks.

The Discount Tire website now shows the BFG KO2 in size 315/70R17 can be mounted on a 7.5" rim. Does this ean they will do it?

they can get it on, but the manufacturer doesn’t recommend it because it’ll affect your tire wear
