Has anyone run this combo and kept the 33s? I searched a good bit and saw numerous manual post but really nothing on the autos with 33s. What kind of rpms would it run at 70 mph? Debating on a Rubi but somewhat concerned about the exploding clutch deal on the manuals. Not really sure if that's as big an issue as presented. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I didn't think the autos were available with 4.88...thought that was a manual thing only?

While not exactly the combination you’re asking about I ran 35’s with 5.13’s behind the auto and 3.6L and it was awesome.
I suspect it would be similar to 33’s and 4.88’s.

What kind of highway rpms are you running?

I can’t remember for sure but I think it was around 2,500 RPM @ 70mph but do remember thinking it wasn’t excessive.
I’ve since switched to 37’s now.

Hi,.

Seen a few automatics JLUR built with 4.88's on this site.

I have a 2020 JLUR 6mt 4.88's now on 35's and recently put 3500 miles in it on the interstate 80-90mph, not sure the rpms 3000@90?, but no issues. 16000 miles on it now.

Think the earlier manual transmissions had issues with the dual mass clutch and the engine programming which is now standard. Also now Centerforce now sells a single disc replacement setup.

Get the manual, little different from most manual transmissions feel but still enjoyable to drive, and 4.88's are nice option and much cheaper than getting reqeared afterwards.

Regards,
Jim

It lets you build one on jeeps site. Is that an error?
Are you sure? When I try to build an auto then select 4.88, it changes the transmission back to manual.

Are you selecting the 3.6L etorque or the standard 3.6L? You have to select the etorque engine option to get the 4.88s and auto.

You can get 4.88 gears on an auto or manual JL with the 3.6L V6. You cannot get 4.88s with the 2.0.

I think the 4.88s would work well with the auto. They are great with the manual trans and 33s(Just picked up my wifes JLUR with the 4.88 option) and should work well with the auto. The auto has a higher overdrive, so I don't think it will overrev with the 4.88s.
Then again, I do like shorter gearing and I tend to drive 70-75mph tops on the highway.

My mistake. I think I had selected the 2.0.

I cruise at 70 mph at 1800-2000RPM with 35s and 4.56 with the Rubicon XR.

I have a jlr on order with the 3.6 v6 etorque auto and 4.88. Am interested to see how it does run with the 33’s but plan to swap to 35/37 before winter why I went with the 4.88.
