These numbers are what happens when dealer orders outnumber the custom orders 50:1. Boring, plain SUV colors by the thousands.
Ok this is undoubtedly a naïve question so don't kill me lol....but why did Jeep introduce the wrangler in only the "basic" colors. I am currently driving a 2016 JK in the color "Rhino" and it's awesome! Like a cross of blue and grey. So given that they HAVE all these other interesting colors....why cut it back when you release the new model? Surely it would be more attractive to everyone and drive up sales?

I am guessing they introduce more crazy/limited colors as the model ages to drum up more interest. I wish they offered more vibrant, non-metallic colors on an ongoing basis, although obviously lots of people feel like punk'n and mojito fill the crazy color niche. (Nothing against those colors. I would just like to see more shades that don't show up on other brands like the purple or hypergreen.)

The mojito is actually nearly identical to the Viper Green Metallic that was on my old '76 Beetle. (Attached picture is not my Beetle, but it is the same color.)

We need production numbers by color for this chart to mean anything, right? A lot of colors have been available for far less time than others.
I'd buy a mohito! today if I could find one!

Just got off chat w/ local dealer, told them to order more colors and I might consider them. When you have 131 JLs and all but 6 are granite, black, white, or silver, your dealership starts looking like an Audi store. Jeeps should be colorful and fun, not dour and serious.

Is there any connection between what dealers stock and what customers want (are not forced) to buy? Every time I go to a dealer, the second question they ask is, "what color?" Dealers understand that if they can get you to sit in a vehicle that matches your vision of "success," they're more likely to make a sale.

Personally, I favor the bright colors too. Hella Yella. Punk'n. Firecracker Red. These are all awesome-sauce. But let's face it, many people just want to fit in.

[Edit: That last phrase was written poorly. I'm leaving it in tact because it's been quoted, but I did not mean to imply that the only reason people buy other colors is to fit in, or that wanting to fit in is intrinsically bad. Most colors are appealing--all are appealing to someone. But some are more motivated by what's popular than their own sense of aesthetic. And that's OK, because it's their Jeep.]

I *almost* bought a JK because the dealer had Chief blue and purple on the lot. Features of the JL won out for me over color, but I definitely looked at the options and sat in each of them a few times before signing the paperwork on my white Rubicon. Of course, I have/had purple hair when I went and love bright colors. I still can't believe I ended up with white sometimes, but I liked how the red and black Rubicon accents looked with it.

Red is probably the only Rubicon color I like more than my white, but there was no red on the lot when I bought mine to see the shade in person. I don't normally like red cars. I like Sting-Gray equally to my white. Now if I had not bought a Rubicon, I would probably have ordered yellow.

You have taken a plain color, and executed one of the most original personalizing themes I’ve seen in a long time. That’s not easy to do on a common color. It’s part of you now. Become the Marshmallow ;)
