Wait...since the cold weather package doesn't include remote start on vehicles with a manual transmission, are we simply talking about owners who go out to their Jeeps, take them out of gear, start them up and forget to turn off the heated seats/steering wheel, which are automatically activated upon start ups below 40°?
Am I missing some necessary detail here that makes this a problem? Jeep doesn't include this function on Wranglers with mannytrannies because you have to be in your car to start it, so they figure while you're there the small percentage of people who like ice cold steering wheels and rock hard, freezing seats will just turn these features off manually.

Hi, yes you are missing the idea in you post.

Owners are complaining the the seats and steering weel heating is started automatically and that only owners with automatic transmission can disable this "auto start" of the heated seats and steering wheels because they have the option to do so in their configuration menus, this is NOT the case for manual transmission. We are not talking about remote start, just heated seats and steering whells.... Nothing else :)

Hi Gilles,

Unfortunately I can't say exactly why it is set up this way - the information we were relayed was simply that this is the intended design and function for these features for automatic versus manual transmissions. I apologize that I don't have more details regarding this design to share with you.

Thank you Jennifer for checking this and getting back to us.

Jennifer if you ever speak to the people in charge of making these decisions let them know that soon we will need a checklist before putting the Jeep in reverse and backing out of our driveways. I fly a Cessna, and I press less buttons to get it going unlike my jeep...

It's a small import that is my daily driver
I'm in the same boat. Manual transmission with the cold wx package.

I would like to see this feature as something I can tweak or turn off.

Under the "U" apps there is a page that has "controls" and you can select the mirror dimmer, back up camera and settings but it just brings you back to the settings page where we (M/T users) don't have the comfort menu.

Could this come out via firmware at some point?

Very stupid of Jeep to not give you same feature controls for 6MT. With auto tranny you have 3 options.
1. Off
2. Remote start
3. All starts

Option 1 & 3 should be available for 6MT. Why is it not?

This is stupid. I get that ESS can’t be defaulted to off because it would hose up the federally calculated mileage. But to not have this as a user defined on or off state outrages me! Oh wait, I live in Florida. :CWL:

Yes, then Jeep should allow you to also set the temperature instead of being fixed at 40 degrees. In Florida you want it set to 60 degrees. In Minnesota you want it set to 10 degrees because 40 is just to darn warm for heated seats up there! :)

I spoke to the guys at Taser and let them know. They mentioned they might have a fix for this...but I haven't heard back in a month or so. I don't think it's a priority. There is only a small number of manual gearbox owners out there, and I'm this issue only bothers those manual owners who happen to live in cold climates.

I honestly hate the heated seats and steering wheel. I should have never got that option. Below 40F my Jeep seems to think I enjoy the hottest settings on the seat and steering wheel. It gets so hot it's literally unbearable. I sometimes get in the car and forget to switch them off, but i get a reminder to turn them off each time my seat and steering wheel gets uncomfortably hot.

Thanks again Jeep..this will definitely be my last Jeep...

Yea makes sense, thats why you have that option. I have a manual, and my Uconnect doesn't have that setting screen. Anyone else with a manual and heated seats, can you check if you have that option in your Uconnect settings?
I have the same problem with my JL sports s manual. it is really annoying

Is there anything else on that circuit? If not just pull the fuse. Put it back if it gets cold enough you want it again.

How hard could it have possibly been for Jeep to do one of the following?

1. Make a Uconnect Comfort control page specific to the manual trans vehicles that left out option 2.
2. Made remote start available on manual trans equipped vehicles (which would be disabled if trans was left in any position other than Neutral)

My guess: not very hard at all. Great job overall with the JL Jeep, but you didn't finish strong on this one.

I agree that it is super annoying, especially on short drives, where you have to remember to do turn it off every time you restart the car.

This is likely a simple software bug that slipped through the cracks, which happens often in software development process. The bug has not been discovered early enough in testing and had to be postponed in order to make the deadline and address more important issues. If we report this through proper channels, there's hope it will be fixed in one of the software updates. I tried reporting it through FCA customer service, also mentioned it to @JeepCares in this forums.

Well, I’ve had my 2020 JLUR manual transmission for about a month, and I love it. But the temperature just dipped, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to disable this automatic feature for 2 days. My former car was a Grand Cherokee, and for 2 days I’ve been thinking “I could swear there was a screen to disable this automatic feature...”. So I google it this morning, find this thread, and can state that this is STILL a problem in the 2020’s. And it only affects the manual transmission folks, because we just don’t have that screen you need to disable it, because we don’t have remote start. Bummer, and kind of annoying...

I think I've already posted a response in this thread somewhere about the seat heater and steering wheel heater coming on automatically when a JL with a manual transmission is started below forty degrees. I confirmed the status of this feature with an FCA representative last year and it cannot be disabled in a JL with a manual transmission. Considering the multiple complaints by JL owners with a manual transmission, I was surprised to hear that the option to disable the automatic on feature of the heaters was not incorporated in the 2019 and 2020 model years. Disappointing. I have a 2018 JLU Sahara with a manual transmission and it is necessary for me to manually switch off the heaters when they automatically come on below forty degrees. An unnecessary extra step in addition to disabling the electronic stop-start (ESS).
