Perhaps JL owners could contact the Russian vote hackers...I bet for a few rubles...they would be able to fix UConnect over a weekend. Of course, the Kremlin may be listening to everything you say after that.

Ha, ha...love this thread...we have the same problem with ours. At first I thought there was something wrong, then was able to piece together from the owner's manual that it defaults to being "on" based on outdoor temp, with no way to adjust the threshold or turn the option off. It is annoying as it seems to be an "over sight" that could easily have been corrected to give the driver the option. I hope they amend this with a software update, but for now I guess manual transmission owners are stuck with three clicks for the seat button, and one click for the steering wheel every time they fire their jeep up in cold weather.

For years I have been complaining...manufacturers should force their design engineers to actually have to use their products before they start the assembly lines.
IMO It's just going to get worse with consumers buying things in beta, or products with the suggestions ("promise") of future updates.

I know what you mean though, I think they over thought it. They should add an option to disable, set the temp, or maybe have the GUI show a splash screen for a few seconds after starting with quick selects for options to turn off.

It's just us soft manual drivers who need the extra coddling! :cwl:

Just wondering - but is it possible to take it into a Dealer and for them to change the default setting from their computer?

Sounds like this will work well for us in southern AZ. Not to many days below 40 but when it is, we think it's freezing!
I live in Las Vegas and currently have a Grand Cherokee. I was surprised and enjoy having the Cold Weather seat heat and steering wheel heat automatically kick in at temperatures below 40°.

My Grand Cherokee does just that i.e. It shows a splash screen at startup when the seat/steering wheel heat automatically comes on so you can quickly turn them off.

I also like that the wrangler has "real" buttons that control the seat/steering wheel heat in addition to the uconnect soft controls.

I'm resurrecting this thread to learn if anyone has received a response from FCA regarding a solution to this problem. I had my dealer's service dept. determine if they could disable the feature or perhaps lower the temperature at which it is enabled. They were unsuccessful. Today I contacted Jeep Customer Assistance and explained the issue. I received an email that my request was being directed to a "specialist team for further assistance" and that I would be contacted within 1 business day. We shall see...

Pull the fuse? That's what I did with my auto running boards.

I have received no reply from the 'specialist team' from 'Jeep Customer Assistance' regarding a solution for those of us that have a manual transmission Jeep and the inability to disable the auto seat and steering wheel heat whenever the temp drops below 40F. Given a take rate of only 10-15% manuals I imagine a software update is not high on FCA's to-do list. I can live with disabling ESS at every startup but pressing the seat/steering wheel buttons 4 times at every start is annoying, especially seeing as that I will be dealing with sub 40F temps from now until May. I still want to have seat and steering wheel heat available when I want it, so pulling a fuse isn't the answer.

I did receive a call back from Jeep Customer Assistance regarding the absence of a Uconnect page to disable the auto seat/steering wheel heat on manual transmission JL Wranglers. Bottom line: There is no software 'patch' available to load nor is there activity by Jeep to develop one in the foreseeable future. So, it is what it is...

Not sure why this is a big deal, I personalize the feature. Just another thing to gripe about I guess.

Perhaps the guys who make the Tazer JL will add a disable function for this. I'll reach out to them and suggest it.

Sad that we need to look to third parties to disable crap some developer at FCA thought was a "good idea". They should force every single product manager and developer to use their system after they built it.

We have a manual trans JL also so no remote start.
I hate this behaviour too. I would like to decide when the heated seats and wheel turn on..
I have my Ram set to turn them on when remote start which is perfect.
This was very easy to change in the Settings menu.
The JL is not a cheap vehicle and it's 2018.
I don't think I should not have to push a bunch of buttons ( ESS included ) before I drive it.
