When you have the pan off, take a look and let us know if there is enough clearance between the lowest point in the pan and the valve body to put one of these bulkhead fittings in, so next time when one changes the fluid, can drain it. I dont recall seeing any plug on the stamped steel pan.i am currently doing a video and write up on the JL 8 speed service. Filter is replaceable without a new pan. I used mopar 8/9 speed ATF fluid. Also adding lubegard platinum. Should be up in next week or so.
Also if you dont spill any fluid when you lower the pan, and hopefully capture it all, can you measure and let us know how much drains out.
I have these B&M fittings in the steel pans on my 545RFE and 46RE on my WJ and Durango, makes it much easier to drain and dont get an ATF shampoo when servicing.
