Proof that a JL Sahara 2 door does exist, but for now on the European Market only.
I spotted this one this morning in Madrid, Spain.
It is a 2.2L 4cyl diesel (200hp).

It could be that 2 door jl is more popular in Europe? As you know, 2 door holds a small share of the us market, I don’t see them bringing it here. But who knows? Personally I am happy with my 2 door rubicon!

As shown on the “JL in Europe “ thread, the European 2.2L 4cyl diesels on that Sahara comes with 3.73 axle gearing.
I wonder what the Rubicon will be?

All diesel come with 3.73, 2.0 turbo sport and Sahara with 3.45 and Rubicon with 4.10

So dumb that they'll ship this all the way to Europe but will by pass American customers who also want a Sahara two door - I just don't get it....

The iconic 2-door seems to be getting a lot less priority here in the States. It's a shame because it's the 2-door Wrangler that got them to where they are today. No 2-door Sahara or Moab. We only get the Sport, Sport S, or Rubicon. The only way 2-door buyers get proximity locks, Automatic Headlamps, LEDs, Active Noise Canceling, larger Uconnect screen, or Nav is to buy a Rubicon.

I agree - we just took delivery on a Rubicon we ordered for my wife for that very reason - it was the only 2-door version that had all the options she wanted. She test drove the 4-door Sahara but didn't like the longer wheel base.

I am only interested in a 2-door. I am trying to decide between ordering a loaded Sport S or a Rubicon. What bothers me is I would never use the rock crawling capability of the upgraded Rubicon drive train. I actually prefer the cleaner hood of the Sport also. It would be nice to have some of the luxury options only available on the Rubicon though. I am deciding if I should just go with the Rubicon since I would probably get back 70% of the Rubicon package at resale. I estimated the Rubicon would cost about $2000 more to drive after 3-4 years.

I know that, but I wanted know why it's been delayed in the U.S. twice and already delivered in Europe.
It might be related to EPA regulations and the past Diesel scandals. I thought I read a lot of US diesels from all car companies were delayed due to the past diesel scandals.

Europe gets a 2.2L diesel, whereas the US is getting a 3.0L, so they are not the same engine.
